They did the same thing with 2017 Heritage High. Bigger names (Bellinger) and others were in the 501-700 checklist with a weak SP list.

Last year was probably extreme with the stars as SP's but you have to put a few in there, right? Who is the biggest SP name this year?

It's listed in the Action SP checklist so it is basically.

Question though...

I think a lot of people were under the assumption Otani would be a different number SP (SSP1 or something like that). Now that we see it's just part of the action variations, that has to hurt resale value, right? Maybe good though since there will presumably be more out there, assuming normal distribution of the 25 cards.

Where is the Action Variation checklist? Maybe I’m missing it looking through the PDFs on my phone.
Thanks Jeff

PSA 10s of the Superstars should be in the $20 area right off the bat. this is indeed good news!

So they'll be $11 in 4-6 months?

More I think about it, more I think it’s better to have star sp’s. Top guys settled for $10-$15 as SP. now they’ll all be $1 to $2 cards

Action is an awesome list...agree on Auto's as well....had a feeling they were going to release something today with all the Ohtani hype around it

You need to put a few of them at least.

The 5 biggest names I saw were:

Xander Bogaerts
Adrian Beltre
Matt Harvey
Victor Martinez
Ryan Braun

That's pathetic

I see this differently from many. The master set buyers are buying whether there are stars or not in the SP list. These collectors pay what they pay for a set every year. I'd much much rather have a strong Action list for resale value as a breaker than a strong SP list and it's not even close. The Actions are phenomenal.

Yes, but more like 300 then 400

and the low # actions are pretty much awesome every year

This, 100%....I'll take star action's over star SP's all day. I wonder if Ohtani will have the same action odds as the rest....I mean, has too, right? Unless noted on pack odds as "Ohtani action, 1-???".....

I can see that but I think it just hurts people who break boxes/cases in general. Actions are always strong so it seems like a wash if they're still inserted 1 per box. How many SPs sold for $10+ last year at the beginning? I don't see a single one in this years checklist.

Not having stars in the SP list takes away some of the easy money.

I'm not a master set buyer (yet), but I'd agree, for the players I collect, I am much happier to see them in the action variation list and not the SP list.
Obviously, both would be great, but action >>> regular SP.

nobody, and i mean NOBODY thinks that SP > Action

Yeah, but it always seems that action's hold their value much longer than SP's.....so once the 'EB race' clears, action's still demand a little extra and even rise in some instances.
