I'm surprised it's so low this late into it. I was expecting in the 2 millions or more by now. Even when this passes the 1.8 million mark. I wonder if this goes for under 2.5 million does it effect negatively on all Trout cards. We were talking about how it could raise his card prices but if it doesn't meet the majority's expectations will it lower the prices. I mean people can always say well it's the highest selling modern card but my expectations are/was 3 million+ with fair chance at breaking the card record.

When I seen your profile I noticed you were 41. I didn't figure you to be old. I guess my judgement was going by your son's age which looks to be around 6. So I assumed you were early 30s like myself.

I think 1.5-2.5M was more what people expected it to go for which is still insane for a card that went for 400K 2 years ago. The Orange was under 200k until the last day and then went for 344K. Still plenty of time to increase. As for values I don't see them going down. Trout again is showing everyone why he is the best modern day player we've seen in a long time. Even if this goes for 1.8M it would bump values. Red is at 900k, Orange probably 450K, Gold 250K, Blue 100k, Xfractor 60K, Refractor 40K and Base 30k. It's fun to try to guess but 2M for a modern day card is insanely high!

The 900k is why I expect so high. Seems like the holy grail modern baseball card should be worth a premium alone and more then 3x a red. I don't pay attention to 25 day auctions so maybe that's how these run. Slow to start and high last day bids.

The 2 year old is your first? Most of the parents I know and listen to have had their first kid by their mid 20s on average. Mid 30s or later seems too old. I barely can keep up with my kids at my age. Unless I find the fountain of youth I'm certain I couldn't in my 40s and 50s.

Yep, married at 36, kids at 39/41. I wish it would have happened earlier but wasn't meant to be. We all have our own journey.

The main thing I tell young people, be prepared, but also don't wait too long. The younger you have kids, the more time you will have with them before it's your time to go.

I'm in decent shape but it's good that they give me a reason to keep active, etc.

Maybe it's a west coast thing. I'm not young but I'm not old. 33. I personally don't believe in birthing kids when so many kids are needing an adoptive parent(s). Which is why all 3 of my sons are adopted.

Funny the West coast is home to many celebrities and musicians who birth kids left and right... many times with multiple women.
Props to you though for being an adoptive parent.

Yup.. I’m old. Haha.

When my wife & I were ready to have a baby, it unfortunately took us a lot longer than we thought. It took us over 2 years to finally have that pregnancy test to say positive. Those 2 years were frustrating. Someone told us to get a dog to get my wife’s mind off trying to get pregnant. Believe it or not, about 2-3 months after getting the dog, the pregnancy test finally said positive! My son was born two days before my 35th birthday. He was the best birthday present I have ever received.

Now our son and dog are best friends.

I'd love to both meet and ask a couple of questions to my middle son's birth parents. He's certainly a challenge. Even more so when he was younger. I've used the comparison for my two youngest as it's like having Bart Simpson and Dennis the Menace as brothers. They're now at the ages I fretted the most and I either expected the worse or I'm just numb to their antics now. Probably a little of both.

Everyone I know, myself included, didn't have kids till after 30. Having kids after 30 is a new thing here in SoCal

Good advice to whomever told you that. On top of getting your mind off getting pregnant some and relaxing you. It has other nice side effects too. You should have picked a husky though. It'd make those terrible twos a little easier. Of course then your stuck with a two year old for about 15 years.

People in general are waiting longer to get married and to have kids. Nothing wrong with that.

Seems so weird to me. I can't think of a single person on the top of my head that didn't have their first kid before 30. Although I have a couple of friends who are now in their 30s and no kids. So maybe time is changing.

Odd side convo here, but I don't know anyone that didn't have an "oops" baby before 30. Almost all planned ones have been after 30.

I live in San Francisco. All my friends didn't start getting married until early 30s and are now just trying to have their first kid in their mid 30s. Some of my co workers didn't try until their late,30s. It's very common now. My observation is that people are really focused on their careers after school and they want to use the cash and independence to travel the world first.

Forgot to add! Child care is also very expensive in the cities and often times you're a transplant so don't have family support.

This is what happened with us. My wife & I finished college and got settled at our job before getting married. After we got married, we bought a house and traveled for a few years.

I have noticed a lot of couples do this here in the west coast.

Haha! I was taking a new employee around work and she’s 22 years old. When she asked how old I was, she replied: “Oh, you’re like my dad’s age”
