I for one look forward to Ohtanis box score more than many many things in my life. So cool to see a guy that works do hard and believes in himself so much walk through adversity to do something most people think impossible.

It would have been nearly impossible to get that ball any further down the bat - that is so incredibly impressive that it left the yard.

Would like to see him get on base a little more and be a disrupter with his speed. His OBP is only .320.

Angels win one, lose one, win one, lose one. Aye.

experiencing a bit of Ohtani RC overload. what's the consensus on the pitching vs hitting bowman? neither are 1st prospect even though pitching is technically the first. let's say he continues to pitch well throughout the season, does the batting get a bump due to the uniqueness or does the pitching? most identify with him as a hitter, i think at least.

Ohtani could never pitch again and the pitching bowman is still the one to have. Discussed at lengths in previous pages.

The fact that he's not having the hobby love he deserves shows how much some think injuries are forever. There is no reason with his current output that he shouldn't be at the level of hobby love of Acuna/Tatis/Vlad. It just tells me to hold his cards because they will be hot later this year. I still regret how low I let a 2020 heritage white refractor go for in Spring training.

Prices today are already insane. I bought most of mine from Dec-Feb, many of which have increased 600%. I bought my 2018 TC 150 PSA 10 for $35 on 12/20. Those are now $200.

Yeah, I remember thinking I was slick in the offseason (granted, it was late offseason) thinking I would go grab some good Ohtani while the prices were stupid. Well, the prices had already gotten pretty smart.

I think we failed to calculate how wide the Ohtani fanbase is. Interest dipped from late-'18 through 2019 but there was an enormous amount of people that were just waiting for signs of life. The moment those signs presented themselves, Ohvengers assembled.

I'm just glad I never sold any of the Ohtani I pulled or picked up in 2018. It's the only thing saving me right now. Nothing huge, but HHN Color Swap, TC Gold Ref, US1 Gold, Metallic Golds, Topps Minis, bunch of base in PSA 10. More of a CYA collection.

I mean, prices today may seem insane compared to the lows of late '18 and '19, but..

1) if some of those rockets start landing for hits and those flyballs go 6 inches further to clear the wall, you're looking at .300/40/30.

2) if he starts commanding his FB better and builds up that callus, you're looking at 100-120 IP of SP1 production

If either of 1) or 2) occur with even a midpoint outcome for the other, his prices will probably go up 30-40% incremental. If 1) and 2) both occur, you're looking at a ridiculous multiple that will make today's prices look like steals.

More precautionary as it's still early in the season and they have mostly experienced starters to lean on. No need to rush him back, gonna take their time like they did with Trout.

Glad to see him in the lineup though, yesterday was the first time the Angels got shut out this season, let's make it the last.

I'm feeling some big knocks for Shohei today!!
