Not sure Padres would do that deal for 2mo rental. They’re further back in WC race than LAA (albeit with fewer teams to leap), and they can’t possibly fit an Ohtani mega deal in with Tatis/Machado/Bogaerts/Darvish/Musgrove contracts (unless they think they can trade away a contract?)

I doubt the Angels' front office is savvy enought for this but it really would be a heckuva coup to trade ohtani for an incredible return and then convince ohtani to re-sign with the Angels in the off-season due to their newly acquired assets.

So how does the MVP work if he were to go to the NL? Do they just pick the league he competed the most in to be eligible?

That will sure kill a lot of bets that has gone down on him. Hard to justify MVP in either league for half a season if it does happen.

I bought one Bowman Chrome hobby box for $100 back in 2018 and I think the total value of the cards I got is still under $10. I was mad about it and a few months later decided to buy another one, which cost a little more, and only did slightly better, but I was satisfied at least it wasn't as bad.

Then I bought a few Ohtani singles to make up for the slight. I wonder if this is similar to other's Ohtani success stories!
