I'm negative about the speculative bubble of this project and how it will extend to other parts of the baseball card market. First, if a ton of people get their investments wiped out, it's going to reverberate through the rest of the card market. Second, if this speculation creates a ton of hype, and that gets wiped out in a Beanie Baby-esque fashion, it destroys the credibility of the rest of the card market. |

First i'm not sure how the presellers are going to hurt this because from what we're hearing most of them on ebay (excluding twinsjake and the other good guys) aren't honoring the presales to begin with Secondly IMHO as long as you have people that are set collectors that will try anything and everything to complete this set the low PR cards should be just fine....A lot of the stuff in the future may be affected especially if PR's start topping 100k or more that really isn't a crazy number if you figure the base print run of other products and cards (Topps Update, Prizm Basketball, etc) As far as the art collecting goes i never was an expert on it but my high school homeroom teacher was and still is and some of the stuff she's bought and sold over the years blows my mind what people will pay...Stuff that looks like it came from a back alley or side of the road sells for 5, 6, and seven figures....As she always said and has said "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" |

I can't imagine what would be bigger than a Gary Vee bump. Honestly. The announcement might have something to do with his Trout and if it does I think he is over playing it. A huge PR or Trout special appearance won't raise the value of the entire project. It either has to be huge, huge. Or a slight exaggeration.

Ya, I'm really only buying 1 of everything. I did buy 3 Fucci Trouts, 3 Saladeen Mays, and 2 Ermsy Williams, oh and accidentally ordered 2 Grotesk Bretts, but I don't want to extend myself to deep.
Most I paid for a card: $964 Second highest I paid: $90 Everything else has been under $40 |

I totally missed the point of your question. Having one too many conversations. I mean I think it's obvious that any cash deal that circumvents the ability for the buyer to make a return simply because a dip in value is the optimal answer. That may be difficult to make happen of course.

It's not hurting feelings dude..maybe for some us this project is BIG welcome distraction (and for me personally a much needed one) from the crappiness that has been this year and you come in every post and take a giant crap on it..why? To make yourself feel better? I haven't had this much fun with cards in a long time and I absolutely LOVE the banter in this thread (exception being you and the other debbie downers). My best friend who hasn't collected in 19 YEARS got into this and him and his Fiancee love the cards. He's not over extending himself or anything. It's just a really cool project. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean you have to spread your doom and gloom to everyone else

Chang Rivera. I made the decision last week that when this is all said and done she will be one of the more famous artists to come out of this. Some for reasons, like skill, and other reasons, like she's the only female artist. So, I needed the Rivera to complete her run. Kicking myself because I could have bought it for $250 earlier last week and I said, "That's too much!" LOLOLOLOL

Im a contrarian at heart way way too many people are dreaming up trout revealing this card. Which means it most certainly wont happen. I could see gary v pitching some sort of collectable portfolio with this being an important piece. Either way its growing for the next cpl weeks then maybe see some stagnation. Wallet fatigue has to set in unless im the only one without unlimited funds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

No one thought the internet would be what it would be... "Reprinted" baseball cards and nostalgia are hot - kids like it, moms like it, a lot of people like it, so combining all aspects is an apex. This could be the change Topps has been looking for - direct to consumer much higher return for them. They have stumbled on not having to have numbered cards, 1/1s, 50/50s, etc. You are also missing it if you dismiss them as just reprints. We all have the same info, so all good, it will go up, go down, or plateau. But dismissing something because you do not care just means you have not put leg work into understanding it, which is fine. Buy what you are like and you will never be burned or holding bags.

Took a half day off work today. Sitting near my front door anxiously awaiting the mail. Should have 8 packages arriving. Cost me about $1600 when I bought them all last week. Current value probably between 6-7000. Crazy crazy.

Everyone... can we pause for a moment and dwell on this Tuesday, June 2 comment?
Did Blake ever say anything about other publicity, or just that something big is happening that day? Because every tenth card drops on Tuesday. Which means card 100 drops on Tuesday, June 2. We already know that card #100 is Blake's Trout, which he says is his best card yet. That would qualify as "something big" for him, right? It's entirely possible he's just pumping his release. |

With that said, the hobby would benefit greatly now from a market crash given it's way out of balance. I'd say most pure collectors would support a crash right now.
