when everyone started hating base cards, I should have kept buying Ohtani base cards. Not that I'm mad I went for color/sp/etc....but could have gotten a lot more base to sell to fund more rare Ohtani stuff, ha!

I've been collecting a bunch of non RC cards and there are a lot! The RCs are pretty out there in terms of price. An example are Topps Stadium Club which are $30 for the 2018, but a mere $2-3 for 2019 onwards (and with much better photos IMO).

I have graded and sold off lots of dupes. I have around 20 in QA2 currently. I also bought a 2022 Bowman Best Green for $20 /99 and it got a PSA 10 based on pop report. They go for around 140 the last time I checked.

Yes but unless I missed it I haven’t seen a single one pulled even by the big breakers. I was thinking break day a lot is opened and I could see at least one.

I'm not sure on the specific print run numbers, but Sapphire wasn't overly printed until 2021 in my opinion. That's basically how it was all sports cards though.

Not surprised. I am late to the Chome RC party as well, but if I picked this up when I first looked it would have been way cheaper, but then his June month wrapped up and things went bananas.

Black 285 came back an 8 from PSA. The top corners were slightly frayed out of the pack. I’m good with it. It’ll be a PC card for a long time

Anyone else holding any base RCs through this year or are y'all selling them while they are hot/already sold out of base?
I've been selling a bunch of graded RCs this year to fund nicer Ohtani but I had made a decision to hold onto all my Bowman #49, BC #1, S2 #700, Chrome #150 as I just felt those are his iconic flagship/bowman image cards that have room to grow.
On the Pajama side I kept all the Optic Rated Rookies since I think those will be the ones to go for.
A few others that I can't bring myself to move: 1983 Chrome, 1983 Silver Packs, DK Insert w/Babe

Curious to hear from fellow Ohtani SELLERS what they are NOT selling (at least base wise, rarer stuff is almost all long term)

Personally not selling Ohtani, and have resisted buying so far. I am HODL for now.

However if he can turn in a very good second half and stay healthy and Win a second MVP,

then next spring into Allstar game if he starts hot would be good window to lighten up a bit.

I feel like it's a good time to buy more Ohtani.

Only risk is he injures his arm again IMO and his pitching fails. Yes, he's a great hitter, but the greatness is really peaked by his All Star level pitching he brings to the table.
