Very nice score there. Just curious though, aren't you going to have to ship those via ground instead of first class or priority? Since they are flammable I think they have to go ground. I am still unclear on that though. Like I bought a cologne gift set recently but I am hesitant to list as I am still not clear on how to ship items like this yet.

Have been lurking here for some time. Always been interested to do this but have never had the time. Due to business being a little slower, I’ve went out over the last month every week. I usually try to hold myself to $200/weekend. I’ve went over twice. In June, I did about $5,000 in sales. I’ll post about that when I have more time.

Anyways, nice little find here this week for the first time. Starbucks mugs. Two separate sales. $2 total. Definite BOLO if you don’t know about them yet.

Two other monster buys I made today was about $3-400 worth of Mary Kay for $100 and $50 worth of new old stock Fruit of the Loom and other vintage clothing sealed in plastic. Spent about $250 total this weekend and should easily get $1000 out of it.

Hope everyone is doing well with their sales this summer! Glad I made the jump.

What I have realized in my time selling cards and garage sale stuff, is that there are several levers that can be pulled to make an item sit or sell right away. In no particular order, they are:

Listing (Wording, pictures, shipping, etc)
Popularity (item sell through rate)
Pricing
Competition
Rarity
Seasonal

Every seller will start out and make a couple errors, but I view them as just learning experiences that will help down the road. It’s just taking the leap that’s hard. If you see similar items to yours selling, compare them and see what’s different.

Each item type and buyer are unique. Be patient and learn. Pay attention to what sells and set a threshold for the lowest priced item you’ll list. For instance, I won’t mess with an item that sells for less than $15-20 now. Unless I’m buying it bulk, it ships first class, and I’m into it for a buck or less. Hope this helps. Ask more if you need to.

I’m talking shipped price. I include shipping with all my prices.

Guess I better post about a lot I’m looking at. Vintage GI joe collection for $4800. Pricing it all out now, but if it prices to $9k+ for sales on eBay I might do it.

The collection has the Sears crimson attack tank with a box in great condition. Guy said it was put together and immediately used for display. Used they sell $300-$400 on eBay without box, but there aren’t a lot for sale on eBay. So I’m thinking maybe can price it very high, $2k range with box and try to make a significant dent on my cost.

They have never had lighter fluid in them so not flammable.

Even then if they can be sent PWE then you can make a killing. Just sold 3 postcards for 6.99 each to 2 different buyers will ship them via PWE. Came out of a lot of about 200 I bought for 3.00.

Gotcha. I’ve never messed around with postcards. My threshold and business model works well for me. Not sure I want to mess around with postcards especially when I’m pushing my item ceiling already.

Today was a huge day. First I know I am one of the few here who uses a last printer over a thermal printer. It costs about the same to run and since I do PWE and print other things its just easier for me. Found 2 toner cartridges for it that run 75 dollars each for 5.00(so that in essence made me 145.00). Bought several artist signed prints at that sale for 10 to 15.00 each they sell for 80 to 400 on Ebay, but for now these are about to find a space on our walls.

Bought a vintage Ralph Lauren pearl snap western shirt for 50 cents along with a couple of other 40 to 50.00 shirts.. Got a Michael Kors watch for 1.00. 4 vintage pairs of Justin Boots for 50 cents a pair. Was given for free a vintage Laramie Super Soaker. Bought a box of about 50 Star wars Mcdonalds toys for 50 cents. Bought another box of toxs that I almost passed over til I glanced down and caught a glimpse of a Cobra BAT. Dug and found about 8 Gi Joes i that box got is for another 50 cents.

Great day for me at garage sales. Vintage Motorola flip phone with car charger for free. Plugged it in, works great. Big box of vintage Tupperware lids, in the washer right now, over 40+ for free as well.

20+ MLB ice cream helmets for $1. Youth Chicago Bulls Starter puffer jacket, $3. 6 pairs of BKE mens jeans, some with small flaws and a Jordan Jumpman hoodie 3XL for $1.50 a piece. Nintendo 64 with controller, no cords to test, but came with 4 games that had nothing to do with the N64. Gamecube, Mario Party 7, Wii Mario Party 8, Super Mario Strikers Gamecube and Mario Kart Double Dash Gamecube included with the N64 console was $23. I'll make my money back plus more with one of those games.

Picked up a car stereo 8 track player for $5 as well. Guy had a Keystone View Company Stereoscope with at least 100 cards for $40 that I passed on but am thinking about going back to get. Thoughts?

We still are not on the thermal printer kick either.

That is a nice day for you.

What were the cards of? Sometimes those can be more valuable than the slide themselves.

Very nice pick ups! Those PS1 games are very hard to find in the wild.

Yeah, I almost never see mario/wario games at these sales and same thing with good PS1 games. There have been a lot less people going to sales in my area so it has definitely helped out my odds of finding good items.

Anyone ever send their really good clothing items out for dry cleaning. Got a vintage jacket I am doing right now. And have a few more I am thinking about sending before listing. I would not think about doing it for everything but some I think it would be a good investment.

Yeah 500 feet to the dry cleaner (I have 2 that I can see from my front door.) and let them do the cleaning is a real project. Listing is more of a project than that. LOL. If I had to hand wash them that would be a project.

How much are they charging in your area to clean the jacket? I was thinking of doing the same with a few shirts and jackets. A fresh clean garment looks better listed.

Its typically around 6.00 for jackets and coats here.. I got 2.00 in this one if it cleans up right will be a pretty easy 200 to 250.00 jacket. It was really dusty from being stored in a garage for 15 years.
