It’s a very simple formula for DFS/props. If the pitcher is elite he will go hit less with 60% K rare. If the pitcher belongs in AAA he’ll hit .400+ with very high HR rate

Amazing to watch grown men sit around on a daily basis to bash a 21 year old rookie in his first MLB season. While he has some amazing tools in terms of bat speed, running speed, and throwing velo he also has some traits inherent to young players from the DR that have to be worked out of them - if you have not played against them in college or pro ball you will not understand. Over time his strike zone awareness and plate discipline will improve as will his size and strength, and when he hits his physical prime in 3-5 years his numbers will improve.

Had 7 SBs in one week. Now zero in 3 weeks. I'm just looking at this from a fantasy baseball perspective where he was never going to save my season, but I was hoping the SBs would continue at a steady rate greater than zero per week.

The level of analysis going into this is quite interesting. Why so many care to prove that Elly will be a failure is fascinating to watch. Happens every year, Elly not the first and won’t be the last to not live up to the hype

Can't steal bases sitting on the bench after striking out

Some people that’s all they post in every single thread they choose to type in. It’s kind of amazing and amusing at the same time.

What a rollercoaster yesterday for Elly.

0-4 with 4 K's to hitting a massive dong and going 2-5

Game 1: Mitch Keller, semi-decent pitcher, made the all-star team this season

Game 2: Andre Jackson, 17 appearances over 3 seasons, making his 1st career start. 2-2 against Jackson, 0-3 against the bullpen.

Good on him for teeing off on a bad pitcher.

That’s what 99% of the league does.

It’s actually not, I’ve posted this a few times but he has extreme splits. Look at the leave avg Batting avg against vs elite pitchers, and you are in the .180-.229 range. If you were to look at his splits off elite starters I’d guess he’s batting around .05 with Maybee 1 extra base hit.

Let’s look at who he has homered off
1. Jackson 5.5 era and sucks
2. Corbin 5 era and sucks
3. Taillon 5 era and sucks
4. Grove 6 era and sucks
5. Rea 5 era and sucks
6. Ruiz 6 era and sucks
7. Shawner 5 lifetime starts
8. Davis 7.5 era and sucks
9. Subdegard 7 era and sucks
10. Josiah gray. Good

Also interesting to note that has never hit a hole run off a relief pitcher yet who tend to have mroe elite stuff then AAA arms throwing bridge innings

Pretty much. But I was told the Elly is in that 1%.

Tell me what's so hilarious about pointing out that he struggled against a decent pitcher and had success against to poor pitcher?

While we're at it, why don't you go ahead and tell us about those traits that need to be worked out of him that apparently only guys from the DR have that only you understand. Go ahead and tell me where you played college ball (which most Dominican guys in the MLB system didn't go to) or what pro ball you played.

In just 57 games, Barry Bonds is the fastest player in history to hit 10 HRs and steal 15 bases after his debut. Elly De La Cruz became the 2nd fastest doing it in his first 58 games.

While impressive It’s very easy to arbitrarily pick stats to fit and narrative for a player. For example (I’m making this up so no idea how rare but probably is). Corbin carrol joined the elusive 20 HR, 35 SB before striking out 90 times in his rookie year club. Since we are talking HR and stolen bases, For comparison Elly will have to double both his HR and SB total before striking out once today

First of all, it wasn't arbitrary. That was from his Topps Now card the other day. And as you know, if they bother to put it on a baseball card, then it becomes sacrosanct.

Second of all, Corbin Carroll is the 3rd player in history to hit 20 HRs and steal 35 bases in his rookie season before striking out 90 times. The other two are Mitchell "The Rage" Page and Mike Trout. Not too shabby. Page had the makings of a superstar but had frequent mental issues and flamed out before he was 30. The other guy is pretty good too.

It's ok. I don't think anyone would consider mid-80s Barry Bonds controversial.
