At the risk of sounding a little harsh I wonder if anyone else here thinks Jarred should pump the breaks on the the easter egg name game " shout outs" in his artwork? The first example was cool, it was clever, I get it but to be honest the names are a little prominent given the size of the portrait and once you see them they can't be unseen. For example the Doyle billboard is substantially large compared to the size of the players face and basically dominates the card. The card is about the player and the sport not about the collector. It's too much.

Jarred, you have the true interest of the collectors at heart, however, please for the sake of your amazing work no more large bright billboards with names plastered on it. Let your art , the player, and the game speak for itself. We don't need more cards dedicated and essentially named after the collectors. This is especially so when these "billboards" are in red, hardly subtle and jump out of the the landscape. Let the work and player speak for itself. I get it, it's a way to give back to the collectors and it must be a great feeling to get your name on a card but let the work , player and game stand on it's own. We'll keep the shout outs for the forum.

Thank you for the feedback! It's always helpful to hear what a serious LS collector thinks.

You're correct, the collector shoutout in the Tommy John card is definitely emphasized. This is due to the red color in the design and due to Topps' removal of the billboard design on the right side of the card, which now weighs the art heavily to the "Doyle" side of the card. Removing the Easter egg from the right side definitely leaves the viewer's focus unbalanced.

There will be more advanced notice of Easter eggs with Topps so these kind of edits, which affect the overall design of the card, can be thwarted in the future.

In my defense of the collector shoutouts, unless I'm forgetting one, in the 101 portraits I've created for the Living Set, only 2 have had collector shoutouts (Roger Maris and Tommy John). It's definitely a rare occurrence and one that I implement only when a special card is made due to a collector's great idea or persistence and determination.

Any idea on Wheeler shipping? I ordered some TLS from him in June and I still have not received them.

I received my Project70 prints from him this week, so I'm hoping that's a sign he's slowly catching up. I'm still waiting on nearly 50 Living Set cards from him, and one complete artist set from Project70.

Thank you Topps for giving us another all time great and fan favorite with Cecil Fielder. However, it was another missed opportunity giving us yet again another duplicate of a C grade player. They need to max Jared's talent and deliver him relevant players consistently. Pumped for the Cecil Card !

That is a little cold concerning Rosario...at least a B (maybe B+) player. He pretty much played a whole season and had a decent year for the Ind...Guardians. There have been others more unworthy of a card.

Seto will definitely be missed, but I’m grateful for her contribution and tireless effort over the last five years. I too would love to Kreindler featured, but I agree that’s perpetually swamped, as you so succinctly put it.

Yes - I am very sad to see her leave. I am a true fan of her talent!

I hope they find a replacement sooner than later - the 2 portraits per week schedule is a huge workload to maintain.

In the past, I think I recall Kreindler telling me that he wouldn't be able to paint a completed portrait (at least to his high standards) in a week. But, if he could somehow do it, I couldn't imagine a better artist to have on the Living Set, especially if Topps does begin to release more and more Negro League players.

I have a Satchel Paige print from DARRYL VLASAK that I just love. He has a business “Legends of the Game” Sports Art https://www.lotgsa.com I don’t know if he is for hire but his style would fit this series nicely I think.

Forgive me, Jared, but is this a joke? I enjoyed Fucci’s work in the Project sets, but his style does not belong in the Living Set.

This painting, and his entire gallery, is fantastic. Darryl Vlasak would be a welcome addition in my opinion.

Too soon? I thought replacing Seto, who is known for drawing every hair on a player's face, with an artist who draws no faces at all was too funny.

The truth is I have no idea who Topps is talking to as a replacement.

I can breathe a sigh of relief. Haha.

It would be cool if they looped you into the decision making process. Is there anyone you would like to see featured?
