I'm interested to see where the Diamond PSA 10/10 Auto ends. I would personally rather have that than the 2011 Sterling Gold Auto PSA 10, but I'm curious how the bidding plays out.

Didn't see any talk in the thread but a 2011 Trout Update Base BGS 10 Black Label just sold for $34,440 on goldin.

Wasn’t this a 5-6k card a year ago? I feel like the pop report is only going up on them as well. Grading is such a sham. Unfortunately we are all puppets to the machine as there is no true value in raw.

No it was not 5-6k a year ago more around 12-15k

The demand for the card has also risen on it. Most likely more then what the pop has. It was also mentioned the other day people may tend to pay more for cards at auction houses then let's say ebay for peace of mind I believe was the term used.

Super rare. Even a 7.5 is gonna go for big money. A psa 7 sold last year for 9600. I bet this goes 15-20k

Baseball is the biggest 1v1 in sports disguised as a team game. MVP's still count quite a bit, as do milestones, achievements etc. As long as he remains on inner HOF trajectory, the train will keep rollin. If he turns into Albert pujols after 33 or runs into injury troubles, that's another story altogether.

And still, no baseball player can win a championship / World Series by themself... if he keeps putting up numbers and DOES not win a championship, it only adds to his legacy as one of the greatest. Look at some athletes who have been great and you will hear that their team is why they were so great...almost like a coppout ” yeah but he had all these guys to help him”

Trout will be remembered & recognized for his numbers solely, not his championships, that’s just icing.

He just needs 5 more years of solid production and health, sounds crazy with “just” in there.

I posted a new pickup a few days ago, a 2011 Trout finest auto green... im thinking of trying to cross it over to a PSA 10 cause of the high subs and the majority of my trout PC is in PSA slabs. I dont have any auto cards, do people typically get the PSA dual grade? I took a look around and saw a mix of just the card grade and the card/auto grade. I think just the card grade makes the label look much cleaner, but does it loose value at all if the auto isnt graded? Im leaning towards just grading the card, its a factory authenticated auto i dont really need to get them the authenticate it... wanted to get the opinion of what you guys thought.

Baseball is weird. Offensive players card values go up and down depending on performance, and are somewhat tied to championships or postseason performance. WS championships are usually attributed to pitchers performances being the key.
Last season was a great example. Strasburg and Scherzer were amazing. Key HR by so many Wash players had a huge impact but that pitching was stellar. It has been a long time since an offensive player dominated and carried a team to a WS title.
If Angels win, but Trout hits .225 would that matter? If they play in one and lose, yet Trout hits .700 does that matter? I think Trout is a legendary player that has surpassed anything ever seen in the last 50 years. Griffey is one of my favorites of all-time but he didn’t have the total offensive numbers Trout does. Griffey was a fan favorite and had so much appeal, and brought fun to baseball (he didn’t show pitchers up though). I miss Griffey, but watching Trout makes me think we are seeing one of the
top 5 -10 players to have ever played.

You can send trout forward or backwards in time to any era of baseball and he’s gonna be great.

Yeah I agree. I was surprised looking at how few SB Griffey had. I thought he would have had more.

Trout just plays the right way. I know people love the “play loud” thing, but I’d rather have a team of “play right” guys. As good as Acuna is at a young age, he is already stigmatized by lack of hustle. Not good.

Same here. This is a rare trait among players and people in general. Nice to see it in Trout.

EDIT: i looked up Griffey's career SB's: 184! shocking! For reference, Trout is at exactly 200 SB's right now.

Decided to go with the auto grade. Hey maybe PSA will think it’s a perfectly good auto and give it a 10! Although I doubt they will if they see Beckett gave it a 9.

Minimum grade 10 on the card min grade 9 on auto
