I've been lucky that the one in town doesn't send Lego stuff off. I have gotten sealed retired sets for less than $2 each.

An Ollie's has just opened up by me. Anyone have any luck there on a consistent basis or is it hit and miss or not even an avenue worth looking into?

My wife likes it for planters. Cheaper then lowes or home depot.

They get weirdly stocked. One store will receive tons of something and two others near there get zero. You can often find books there and toys that flip easily enough. I'm sure if I was well versed in the rest you might find other stuff. But again each ollies is different. So YMMV.

I do decent arbitrage there. There are some great finds in most sections of the store if you dig.

In quantity or in singles? It being the only one in town, I may have an opportunity here, but was hoping for some more insight. If it's a single pick up item every time I go, then I might as well continue thrift shopping and hope for the best. I was looking for something more in quantity.

YOu can find some quantity. You are not going to find a lot of big margin items, but then you don't find those in thrifts stores very often either. But you can find items that you pay 5.99 for that sell for 20.00 and can find them 3 or 4 at a time if you look. Ours had a grand opening on April 1st and I was able to snag a few fairly high priced graphic novels. For me books and toys are the best place to look but as was mentioned it varies from store to store.

I have seen them at all of those except for estate sales.
(I literally have had dreams of going to a sale and it having a bunch of the stuff from the 80s/90s castle sets, complete, sitting on the table waiting to be bought.)

So IMHO I think the stuff appears in the areas that I mentioned, since I have bought them there, but I think it gets scooped up very quickly. I've been lucky, a couple times I have bought stuff, the person working says, "Wow, that didn't last long."

I went to an estate sale, 2 years ago. They had the Statue of Liberty set disassembled in a box and I missed it by a few seconds. I did end up with around 90lbs of Legos and a huge tub of manuals. There was even a manual for the Star Destroyer, but I didn't see any of the pieces in the bins.

They had the AT-ST and the Droid Transport for $10 each assembled.

Around 1300+ hallmark ornaments, 90% mint in box for $1000. I’ll have to get creative with some lots, but absolutely worth the money.

I see like at least 100 dollars worth of plastic totes in that photo. Resale value not like retail. Retail it'd be more.

I love plastic totes in auctions/sales if they have the lid and if the cost or cost per average per tote ends being around $5-10 you cant go wrong since the tub is worth it even if everything in it is junk.

I did the same thing and bought my first item today. It's an OEM Land Rover trailer hitch, and it looks like it should be a very nice flip. I also sent a message to a guy about a Craigslist item, but haven't heard back yet. That one should do pretty well also if I can grab it.

Had some good sales this weekend. The large Christmas ornament lot should net be anywhere between $5k - $7k. Just posing the higher end ornaments that sell between $30 - $100 right now. Couple of lots for $150 - $250 for series or collections. I got lucky in this one and glad I pulled the trigger.

I browse Craigslist every day multiple times looking for things. Sucks to find something that could get you and easy $25 - $50, but it’s an hour away.

Keep checking though.

Have seen a few people making yard sale posts for this weekend. Bring them on.

Can’t get here fast enough. I found a nice cast iron skillet on Craigslist yesterday. Paid $10 and should get close to $100 when restored. Speaking of, we have a giant load that just finished the third round of oven seasoning and is ready for listing today or tomorrow.

Ours normally kicks off the first week of March or so but this year has been tough on that front. With the Phase 1 reopening going in Friday hoping people will start having them

I can't wait. We are still stay at home for another week and then our county is thinking about extending it until a week after that but if that happens, I'm going to another county to garage sale/thrift.
