I correct myself I misread the announcement 4 family members per player and 2 per coach. Still better than all out canceling. This goes for all sports not just basketball.

Very safe to say this guy knows more than everyone on blowout combined about infectious diseases. He seems to think this is a pretty big deal and that the United States is not ready to combat it accordingly. Is anyone going to disagree with him? If so, please let us know your credentials!

Merkel just came out in Germany and said that up to 70% of Germany will contract the virus. 58 million.

That's gonna play well.

To be fair, E3 was well on its way to being cancelled prior to COVID-19. Most of the big companies have already stopped supporting E3 and instead hosting their own conferences.

It's mass hysteria at this point. Very unfortunate lessons are being drawn by global bad actors, not least of whom are the architects of the Wuhan Virus.

He said he projects 10-15x times the number of fatalities annually than the common flu. That's a bold prediction.

Ten to fifteen times!

X to XV times!

Let's see how accurate this self proclaimed disease detective is

Anyone know how many Americans die annually from the flu?

Oh, my credentials...although multiple masters I don't have medical background. I was an usher at sporting events back in high school though

I agree. Bold prediction. But if experts are predicting big numbers it makes all the sense in the world to take the necessary precautions.

E3 has been losing relevance as companies have finally figured out the internet and realized they don't need the ESA to make all of their big announcements, but it definitely wasn't in danger of being cancelled on it's own for at least a few more years

I think a lot of the fear is the fact there is no cure, yet. Once we get that, hopefully that quickly erases fears and everything.

Credentials? How about this, I know how to read and research, and I know that this guy who you’re toting as infectious disease master of the world was COMPLETELY WRONG about the bird flu in his writings when he said it was going to rival the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic. Just bc people have a fancy paper in a fancy frame on their wall DOES NOT mean they don’t have “interests” to benefit ones self. Also doesn’t mean they’re very smart.

Italian doctors have predicted that by next week, they could easily have 2x more people needing ‘intensive care’ equipment than the amount of such equipment they have - in their richest province. That doesn’t just affect people unlucky enough to catch this virus; it affects everyone who needs medical assistance as staffing shortages develop as well.

The expert doesn’t have the greatest track record

From what I've read, part of the reason why Italy is being hit so hard is because they were initially trying to treat it with the mentality of "if we ignore it, maybe it'll go away" and didn't start testing and isolating people until they were already showing signs of being deathly ill.

Good thing I can't think of any other countries like this

I did the math
If we use the 2018-19 flu season numbers, then this disease detective is predicting as much as 513,000 americans dying this year from Kung Flu

That is an insane prediction

513,000 deaths???

Even IF 500k people die from the coronavirus (that's a hilariously ridiculous number) still not even close to the number of car accident deaths each year. Guess we should just close all roads to save lives

All these clowns so worried over a little baby flu yet they're smoking 2 packs a day and eating McDonalds 5 times a week

edit: I thought that 500k number was worldwide, the fact that it's just US is even more ridiculous

While I agree the hysteria is probably a bit over blown. That is some huge false equivalencies you just threw out there. It can't be "nothing" with all the extra precautions that are being done. And no, this isn't a political left wing media fake hysteria.

First couple of cases just announced here in Michigan. Knew it was only a matter of time. Hopefully community spread will be minimal.
