Saw this interesting post on Twitter:

In 2019, the Eagles gave Carson Wentz a four-year, $128 million extension.
In 2020, the Eagles drafted Jalen Hurts in Round 2.
In 2023, the Eagles gave Hurts a five-year, $255 million extension. Two weeks later, the Eagles drafted Tanner McKee in Round 6.
In 2024, the Eagles traded a third-round pick for Kenny Pickett and a fourth.

Almost a pattern of the Eagles giving a QB a contract extension, then going out and getting another QB (in the case of Hurts, to replace Wentz)

Yes, teams usually like to have more than 1 QB on the roster.
So they draft, trade for, or sign them.

Why would they trade for Pickett and give up draft capital if they already had Tanner?

Batch #2 of McKee graded( I split my Mckee cards up in to 2 separate orders, ) Glad I split them up because this grader was stingy with perfect scores. I may crack out some of the 9.5's to re-submit, the Dragon scale looks perfect, the checker prizms look perfect- the last batch I submitted, the Dragon and the Checkers both all got 10s. He only saw 9 perfect cards out of this bunch. I have a handful still to be graded. Did much better with 1st order

Exactly.

Mckee is probably a cut preseason if they draft another QB.

He won't get a shot in Phila with a young top 10 QB and now a real young first round QB there.

I don't get it, broseph. Grading McKee?

1) Why grade any player who hasn't even done anything yet?
2) Why grade modern football SGC?? It's well known PSA adds value, and BGS adds a bit of value. The others do nothing.

But yeah... grade cards once the guy is an All Pro, SB winner, HOF, etc.
Didn't we learn anything from 2021 and the piles of graded Zach Wilson, Davis Mills, etc? Lol.

But hey, what do I know? There are probably people sitting on piles of graded Trask, Kellen Mond, Zappe, etc.

How many cards have you graded? Doesn't sound like many.
Grading (good grades, by any grader)adds value to a card. Whatever is was selling on Ebay for last week ungraded, will command higher value now if its graded with a good grade.

SGC is my personal choice, it's fast turn around, cheaper, and I like the look of the slabs. Obviously a PSA slab will fetch more $, but for the reasons I just mentioned, I prefer SGC, especially if it's going in my PC.

As far as "why grade cards of players that have not done anything yet?" So when they burst onto the scene suddenly and get a bump, you can max out profits selling the graded cards so many people are looking for. If you send them off to grade as soon as that player gets that bump like McKee did, then by the time you get them back, that bump is done (especially with PSA). I think most of us that played the McKee game long term made out pretty good flipping McKee with graded or non graded stuff. Ask @Randyshobby how he did with this McKee bump, and ask him if he wished he had graded more

Got this one sweet one back. These Green variations are tough to find, and happy to get a 10 (my last one got an 8.5)

You lost me at broseph but I’ll take the time. Is this your first day in the hobby? You clearly aren’t aware McKee came in and threw 2 TDs in his debut and then had a GREAT start in their final week, WITH backups.

Since you’re clearly brand new to NFL trading cards, backup QBs are unquestionably the best way to make insane profit margins. Debuts, trades, injuries, the draft, I could go on, can pump backup QBs. Their hype can even get their prices moving. When McKee debuted a couple weeks ago, I was one of the only sellers who had more than one graded card of his listed on eBay and I sold over 200 cards. It is extremely important to have cards graded regardless of company or the grade went back ups are in the news.

And obviously it's a longshot, but what if Eagles make it to the SB, and Hurts is out along the way, and McKee gets into the game somehow and shines. You would be regretting NOT having a bunch of graded stuff handy.

Saw this funny 3D chess move Tweet from a die hard 49ers fan

"49ers are going all out this year. They’re gonna trade Purdy to the Raiders for a third round pick then they’re gonna sign Aaron Rodgers to a one year deal. Trade that 3rd to Philadelphia for Tanner McKee for the future"

I still don't know what anyone would want Rodgers at all even for a season at this point, but ok. The Purdy & McKee parts don't sound that crazy actually, although I am convinced that Purdy is a 49er for life

So you guys are saying Malik Willis is probably the GOAT then (since he won a couple games when Love was hurt)... and we should spend a bunch grading him?

Wow, bffr.

What are you talking about?
Okay let me give you some background.

Tanner McKee was at one point thought to be a 1st rd possibility. His senior year, he had the worst O line in college and was sacked/pressured a whole lot, but still was decent. He had a strong accurate arm, and a hulkish build. Although he slipped and was not a 1st rounder, several of us here recognized his potential and upside and since he was behind guys like Mariota and Pickett in past 2 yrs, we figured it was only a matter of time before he got into a game and showed off what we all know he can do. That moment came, and he shined throwing 4 TD passes on 45 passes with no turnovers. He drove down and got points in the 1st quarter with backups (the Eagles rarely did that with starters this season). I don't speak for everyone here that is pro-McKee, but I believe and a lot of other people do too, that he's a better passer than their starting QB, and from just that aspect would be an improvement. We feel that his talent has now been unlocked and demonstrated, and the secret is out. It's now a matter of time before he gets a chance to start someplace. Most of us that invested in him want to be ready with graded cards to sell when the demand hits.

If you think we are just blowing smoke and over joyed McKee fans, I challenge you to go read Twitter and see how many people (Eagles fans mind you)are openly calling for McKee to play.

That just shows there are stupid fans on Twitter as well as BO, doesn't really help your case at all.

Doesn't matter, the fact is there is a growing love for Tanner McKee within Eagles country, on Twitter and on Blowout. You can be part of it or don't, it's happening with or without you

Calling for McKee (or any 3rd-string QB) to play for a team in the NFC Championship game is neither reasonable, nor informed.

Yesterday was another McKee Mail Day. A purple power auto arrived.

This Tanner McKee thread is so utterly silly, but I can't stop looking for more McKee deals...I will most likely regret this. What a wild ride lol.

You need to clarify what “growing love” means. Because of course we love McKee. He’s an Eagle. There’s no one on the team we don’t love right now. There playing to go to the Super Bowl.

Boy, how dumb is Eagles coaching not to see the greatness of Tanner McKey? Well, I guess they're in SB, so not totally dumb.

How ignorant are all 32 teams' GMs to pass on him and pass again and again in the NFL draft? (very weak QB draft 2023)

It's amazing they all don't wise up and just read on Twitter more

This honestly sounds like the talk about Bailey Zappe (before he was cut by multiple teams after Pats).

We should find a dual auto McKee and Kyle Trask card. That'd be the greatest NFL card ever made. Bar none.

These guys have real future on those Progressive backup quarterbacks commercials like Colt McCoy and Keenum and Josh Dobbs? Maybe, if they can manage to stay in the league six or eight more years. Yeah, I'd say that's their ceiling... enough of a name to get a commercial or two. They're no Ryan Fitzpatricks, though.
