That is some excellent photography, I'd probably grab this card down the line just for that. Love cards with exciting photography like that. VERY NICE pick up!!!!!!!

Default official Poverty mail-day thread

Thought I'd ad to this poverty party. Picked up a sweet kyrie rc the other day. Despite the small price tag it's easily one of m favourites!

That's a really nice looking card, I think if Panini got more creative and used great photography in their base cards and used effects like this for inserts they'd have something really special. Great pick up! Does the back also have that effect, or does it have stats/facts?

i agree!
No the back is just your run of the mill panini back, no stats, but a little paragraph on what Ray Felton thinks of Kyrie Irving!

Picked up a few "poverty" cards the last couple weeks.

3 card PSA 9 Alonzo Mourning lot $10.50 shipped

PSA 9 1990 Fleer David Robinson Rookie Sensation insert (one on the left) $14.95 shipped

PSA 8 1971 Topps John Beasley from the ABA Texas Chaparrals (I'm from the DFW area) I think it was a steal at $6.45 shipped

(Not pictured)

Picked up some player base lots from one seller. Mostly from the late 80s and early 90s. 146 base cards of Alonzo Mourning, Dennis Rodman, Gary Payton, David Robinson, Tim Hardaway, Karl Malone, Chris Webber, Scottie Pippen, Hakeem Olajuwon.

What I liked about the lots was that they were true base cards and not filler. Most of the time base player lots are filled with subsets. I've always been more favorable to true base cards. All star cards or league leader cards are pretty nice, but a lot of sets in the 90's had lots of subsets. Some were great, and looked like inserts, but some were not necessary or attractive.

That base card RC Alonzo and the Admiral card you picked up are easily my favorites in the lot. I love the simple, yet outstanding design on the cards. Excellent pick ups and good work on the prices.

bumping this back up with some additions as well.

want to thank drobfan8 and TheFranchise for their generosity in helping me out big time with filling in holes from some base sets I'm filling in.

TheFranchise sent me a bunch of Collector's Choice cards, as well as some Flair and some Shawn Kemp cards, a few of which I was missing.

drobfan8 sent me a whole bunch of Flair cards and even added in inserts from the 95/96 year!!!

Thanks guys, you rock!

Bumping this...

Scott Skiles, Fat Lever and the "X man" talk about a blast from the past, really nice stuff. Too bad that X man auto isn't on card.

SPx Prolifics, SP Authentic Profiles 1 and SPx Finite base. Love the photography on the Profiles 1 card and love discovering new, "obscure to me" cards like the SPx Prolifics card, which is a gorgeous card in hand.

Then we have StarQuest, I think this is the "platinum" level, but I'm unsure. Followed by EX Century and EX 2001 base cards. More to come later.

Glad to see this thread is still alive. I got transferred to another job site with limited internet access so that is why I have not been active on here. I am at the library right now and thought that I would stop and check in.

This is a beautiful card with some really exciting imagery, still need to grab the base and ultimately the platinum medallion. Can any one describe the difference between the gold and platinum?

Also...FINALLY got this loathsome Joe Smith 9697 Ultra Rising stars card in...now I just need the $$$.....er I mean, the Kobe, to complete the set.

Yes, that is a collector's choice base in a 4 screw screwdown. Got a couple of those cards in, and one is for display. Also got in the 3 star/gold Star Quest.

I know there are non high-end collectors on here, let's see'em. :turkey:

Nice Miami heat patches are hard to come by! And if you don't have the budget for the likes of james or wade, then these lower tier guys will have to do!
I wouldn't exactly call this a 'nice' patch, but 2 colour 3 breaks ain't bad! And I like that it's the totally red version to tie in with the miami heat colourscheme.
I have a slightly better heat patch coming in soon

Nice addition, I agree the red color scheme works to frame everything on the card very well. What size thickness / PT is that card?

not sure of the actual PT, all my new one touches are still packed away since my move so can't size it up, but its about the regular thickness you would expect from a low-mid range patch card from panini, same thickness as the following card-

so it has arrived! i freaking love this card, and as of right now is the nicest miami patch i own! it may actually be top 3 nicest patch i own all up!

numbered to only 15

i present to you Mario Chalmers!

and the best thing is im not sure what the prices really go for on this set, i didn't really do my homework on that, but i picked it up for much less then i would have been blindly willing to pay! so thats a win for me!
