Thanks everyone for sharing. I have been contemplating for a while now on collecting autos for all 50 greatest players of all time. I was hoping to get as many on card autos as possible with no jersey/patch cards. Obviously the Pistol Pete and Wilt will be hard. Who else will be hard to get? Also if I ever complete my plan would be to get the whole thing framed. Is this a pipe dream or reality? How much would it take to get it done? I have Gervin, Baylor, Magic, West, Walton, Jordan, and Isiah right now all on card and from different sets. Lastly I am not sure if I should have any duals or all singles. It would prob looked better if it was singles. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks.

IronMonkey415, the Russell/Erving is a beautiful card, I saw that on eBay once and wish I could have afforded it.

cdpowell34, you're right, the Wilt and Maravich autos will set you back a few thousand each. Barkley autos are rare and will cost a few hundred dollars. If you want an NBA licensed card then you're looking at $100+ for the Dave DeBusschere auto. Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen and others will also cost $100. Dave Bing autos are rare. George Mikan costs about $100.

I had a question about some of the Wilt Autos on ebay. There are a bunch of older cards that are signed by him and they are PSA/DNA Authenticated and slabbed. That means they are legit right? Why are they only 200-300 dollars? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

As a long time HOF TTM collector myself, I can validate that Wilt autographs were very easy to acquire. Wilt was a very willing signer in the 20+ years after he retires, there are just a lot of autographed cards and stuff that Wilt has produced during that timespan. Unlike guys like Pete Maravich who has a much shorter retirement before his death, anything in-person autograph with Maravich will command a lot of money, while for Wilt mainly his certified autos can command top dollars. Maybe the exception of his 1961 Fleer rc PSA/DNA rc.

Only his "certified" autos sell high... Certified autographs are the ones that came inserted into packs of cards, and have a certificate of authenticity on the backs of the cards provided by the card companies - Topps, Upper Deck.

The only 2 certified autos of Wilt are the 1999-00 UD Retro Inkredible and the Epic Signatures also by UD, not sure of the year, but I think 1999-00 as well, or possibly 2000-01.

The one you're talking about are cards that came in packs that weren't signed, and then later on people got them signed in person. People then send them to PSA or BGS and other companies to get authenticated. Yes, you would hope that the person authenticating them knows for sure, but how can we really know 100%? Thus why they probably don't go as high as the pack inserted, or "certified" autographs.

But like the poster above said, with the exception of his 1961 Fleer RC, which if signed and authenticated, I would think it would demand waaaaay more than the pack inserted 1999-00 Retro and Epic.

Not sure if these are the first for basketball autos or one of the first... But this is Al McGuire's only autographed card(I think lol). It's possible that he has an Action Packed as well, but Beckett wont grade those, because they need to be certified first through their James Spence authentication services, while they grade these without that service.
