Unfortunate to post about this but am curious if any of you have run into a similar situation w/ Goldin.

I won a GU jersey from them back in their February auction and as of today, 5/10/22, have yet to receive the jersey (or even tracking).

I emailed a gentlemen named Tim on 3/21 and we've been in consistent communication but it's been solely driven by me. The updates I'd received were that my item was due to ship (3/21, 3/30, then again on 4/7) with continued excuses as to why it didn't. Then on 4/12 Tim informed me that my jersey was incorrectly shipped to the wrong person (who was international) and is being held at customs. On 5/2 I again reached out and was told there were no updates. I followed up again on 5/8 and then 5/10 as I hadn't heard back and still have no clue as to what's going on.

This seems like a pretty poor way of handling a close to $5k purchase (which perhaps isn't priority for them as it isn't crazy expensive). My biggest frustration is that I've been the one driving communication and have yet to receive a quantifiable update (aside from the error in shipment note) 2+ months after purchase.

Any thoughts or advice on how to handle?

Just as a general sentiment for any kind of scenario like this in life, you basically have two options: Keep waiting and hoping it gets resolved, or once you have had enough just submit a chargeback through your credit card company / bank to get your money back for the item not being received. You have the documentation of the communication so there should be no issues with the dispute.

In general I don't think people use credit cards to pay for Goldin purchases. They pass along the entire cost to the consumer, it's usually just better to wire the money directly... which means no chargeback.

Yikes. So the highest end auction house out there offers their customers no recourse or protections on purchases. Sounds like buyers are basically SOL then if anything goes wrong and they need to take that into account before transacting with Goldin. Thanks for the awareness.

What player is it? Could that have anything to do with it - sellers remorse?

Wow, sorry to hear what a poor experience you're going through. Clearly they're stalling for some reason, the wrong person/customs excuse is pretty lame. Whether it's $50, $5k, or $50k you're still a customer who deserves to have their transaction handled appropriately.

Not sure how to resolve it without knowing the T&Cs you agreed to beforehand. I'm sure there's some language around these sorts of scenarios that limits what you can actually do.

Tim is a horrible rep to deal with. I shut down my account so im not tempted to bid on anything.

Tim responded this afternoon offering a refund so it's now decision time.

Don't believe so. It's a Khris Middleton Gamer from Game 1 of the playoffs last season. As a Bucks fan it's a game I'll forever remember as Khris hit a game winning shot against MIA which kick-started the championship run for Milwaukee.

Can't imagine Khris' stock being up considering.

The update I received today still offered no update on where the uniform is. "We are still awaiting responses to get the exact whereabouts." Pretty crazy to be the case 2+ months later.

--

Appreciate the suggestions. I suppose it's time to make a decision on a refund. I obviously really want the item, but the fact they have no idea where it is / what's going on after 2+ months doesn't give me any belief this will be resolved anytime soon.

That is a horrible way to treat a customer.

Take the refund. You’re never getting that item. This is not the first time someone has posted here that their item has been shipped elsewhere.

Mickey Mouse operation. Shame that Christie's or Sotheby's won't enter the marketplace.

Agreed. I don't care how much backing Goldin has, it's evident their prior logistical concerns are not getting any better. The name recognition Christie's or Sotheby's would bring to the market would destroy them. And to be honest, every company has its warts but they've had an influx of millions of dollars and the only thing that has changed is their website (which is way better, BTW). Going radio silent on a guy who just won a $5k game-used jersey because you misplaced it (?) or can't find it is a HUGE concern. And then to quickly refund him because you saw the complaint on BO?...Wow. Ken should just have his team create a BO thread for complaints since this seems to be the platform they respond so quickly to. Problem solved!
