Exactly the point. I would potentially, as a buyer, use the service for any of a number of raw cards that I may have reservation over. Also it may increase the chance I'm an active bidder on such cards. But once it rolls over to slabs I see no use for it.

It does look like there are many reused photos. Not all are the same card, but some seem to be. In fact in the two current raw auctions they have for the tiffany kgj, looks to me it's the same card featured in the photo of the back, matching visible marks on the card stock. That's very shady.

Then the seller apparently has an sgc graded 10 one, and also 100% feedback, one recent one even one of these griffeys. All very strange.

I do not think the authenticator would have rejected because of grade, since nowhere does it list a grade in the description to match. So either an actual regular Traded card (why would anyone even attempt that knowing it has to go through authenticiation though...if they knew that), or something else to do with authenticity.

I know. But the issue is with the packaging design. Which I think it’s safe to say eBay controls. They went from the two strap design to four strap design when this issue started. Maybe they’ll go to the eight strap design next.

This is an interesting case. The seller does have a few tiffany griffey RCs between their active and complete listings. My eye isnt trained to spot glossy tiffanys, but the pics do look like glossy, and the seller even has an actual sgc graded 10 version up for sale, so you'd think they would understand what a tiffany is.

What is perplexing is in the listing of the one you posted that got rejected, the seller doesnt actually specify condition. In some of the other listings they say HIGH PRE GRADE, and make remarks about condition, but not yours. The only words used are "beautiful card" which is subjective and could mean anything. So Im not so sure the card was rejected on condition grounds, as is usually the case. I wonder if it was indeed something to do with legitimacy (and not just mistaking tiffany vs base). In any case, I wish they would just tell you why it didnt pass, it would help. Seller has one rejected by the Authenticator, and has multiple more up of basically the same thing up for sale now at auction, no mention of having one rejected- somewhat questionable.

Just checked now and they were sold over the weekend.

He sold 7 tiffany's in 10 days. The last 3 (all using the same photos) for under the ebay authenticity limit.

Call me skeptical, but I don't think any of the raw ones were Tiffany's and ebay authenticity got it right.

He did sell two raw copies just in the last couple days, and it's shame they went for 400 and 280, because those wont go through ebay authentication at those prices, and I wonder if someone got burned.

How will the buyer get burned unless they don’t know what a Tiffany looks like? This is why the authentication process is useless for a buyer who knows what they are doing. If I get a bad item, it’s getting returned INAD, and I’m getting my money back.
