the interesting thing to me about Lowry and Conley seemingly already gotten, is that it could mean Pels opt to match whatever the Bulls are about to throw at Lonzo.

There's still Dinwiddie and schroeder out there, but most probably see Lonzo as the best of that bunch

I assume the Bulls move on to Schroeder. If I'm the Lakers I'd love to try and get Thaddeus Young and Tomas Satoransky for Schroeder. I at least get a few rotation pieces for a guy I wasn't planning on keeping anyways.

This sounds like a trainwreck but I'm here for it.

deleted^ - was it the 'Lonzo to Hornets' scenario?

Either way, now seems Pels are interested in Devonte Graham, but with Lonzo still headed to Bulls. We could see some really complex deals today

Default Yep

Looks like a multi-team with Lonzo headed to Chicago, Devonte to Pelicans, and some other team? Today should be fun.

good article on the new-look Lakers' fit.

https://www.theringer.com/nba/2021/7...s-lebron-james

Quote:
It’s a compliment to LeBron, in a way, to look at a roster that broke down in the first round last season and see the minutes without James (and the games without him) as the Lakers’ greatest need. It also might take for granted how difficult his job still is. James, creeping up on 37, is at a stage in his career when it makes more sense than ever to tailor lineups to his strengths. Give him veterans, but more importantly, give him space. The fact that LeBron can triage his team’s scoring options as well as any player in the history of the sport doesn’t preclude him from also needing to attack and physically move defenders to make the best look possible.

Westbrook, for all his production, complicates those efforts. Defenders don’t guard Westbrook on the perimeter when he doesn’t have the ball, nor should they; while playing on teams with James Harden and Bradley Beal over the past two seasons, Westbrook shot a miserable 29.5 percent on catch-and-shoot 3s, according to data from Second Spectrum. Westbrook is too comprehensive a force to be reduced to his 3-point percentage, though in a way, that’s part of the issue. The Lakers have acquired a guard whose skill set cannot help but dictate the terms of the offense. And in doing so, they made a huge commitment—in usage, in minutes, and in the fiber of who they are as a team.

This is bigger than fit. Everywhere Westbrook goes, teams change around him. Assaulting defenses as he does forces stars to stand by and bigs to wait their turn. Opponents have to adjust to the pressure he puts on the rim, but once they do, Westbrook doesn’t have many ways to modulate his game. He’s either operating at a dead sprint or standing still. He has control of the offense or he’s off to the side. He creates opportunities—just last season, Westbrook led the league in total assists, assist percentage, and assists per game—but becomes more limited and less interesting when he tries to play off of other stars. What does that mean for LeBron? Or for Davis? There’s a reason Westbrook will soon play for his fourth team in four seasons. The past two—the Rockets and Wizards—talked themselves into trading for him and got more than they bargained for. He came, he put up triple-doubles, he pulled their entire team into his orbit, and after an unceremonious end to the season, he lobbied for a way out.

I think the Mavs kind of dodged a bullet with Lowry situation if he goes to MIA. I know they're desperate to get some better players but Lowry is getting up there in years. Locking in a 3 year $90 million deal with a player who will be nearly 40 at the end of it is not ideal. They've already got one bad contract they need to discard of they don't need another one. That's what got them into this mess in the first place, bad contracts. I thought they'd let WCS go but they just re-signed him i don't get that move when they have 5 centers.

I think the Mavs should go after Dinwiddie.

I would hate that deal. I'll rather have them resign Sato unless the Lakers include a couple of picks.

After trading for both Kris Dunn and Josh Richardson over the weekend its starting to look like Marcus Smart might be on the way out real soon.

Yeah that's what it sounds like to me too. Smart is a good player defensively, one of the best defensive guards in the league. I wonder what they'd get in return for him.

Steph was never leaving. All the "what if he leaves" stuff was wishful thinking. Klay will get locked up for life as well. My only question is if they keep Draymond as another career Warrior, or do they move on from him if they come into a situation where they can land another star big

I've read rumors of possibly sending him to the Pelicans for Lonzo (S&T) but with that Chicago/Charlotte deal mentioned above this likely may not happen.

edit: Stevens currently has Smart,Richardson,Dunn,Langford & Grant Williams who are all basically the same type of player so I'm expecting another move or two here. That BOS/SAC/ATL trade isn't finalized yet so Dunn might be on his way back out too.

Depends on the development of Kuminga would be my guess.

Kind of have to at this point. All of the decent players are drying up. Looks like they might try and get Dragic but he's kind of old too. Not sure how much he's got left in the tank and not exactly cheap at $19 million. He's a good fit with Luka but i would be careful if i were DAL and not sign any of those older players to long contracts. 1 or 2 years is good for flexibility.

They should have gone after Holmes but they've already got 5 centers on the roster. None of them very effective unfortunately besides KP occasionally but he's super overpaid and unreliable. Holmes would have been a nice addition. At least he's not 35-36 years old. They need to package up some of the garbage they've got and get rid of it. Too many bench type level players.

Allen back to Cleveland for 100/5

Totally fine with this. Excited to watch him play next to Mobley… and catch dunks from Rubio

Like it...

Atlanta showed us the blueprint with Trae-Collins-Capela.

Not it's time for Garland-Mobley-Allen.
