If PSA were thinking of acquiring Dairy Queen, you would tout it as a "good move" for collections. Please.

Not sure why Nat is so untrustworthy regarding PSA acquiring SGC, yet we're supposed to give credibility to some random guys on the internet who were saying in June that this was just around the corner?
My understanding is that there have been multiple reliable sources reporting on the possible acquisition including one that claims a bona fide offer has been made. Besides, why would Nat ever tip his hand? How would that benefit him or PSA?

The same efficiency argument could be made for a lot of acquisitions that increase a monopolist's resources, I suppose, but I'm not sure that offsets the dangers of the increased concentration of economic power.

Why should I believe you over the CEO? You're a random on the internet. A nobody. And you'll always be a nobody because you'll never come out from behind your user name. Which I have no problem with, but you don't get to act like your posts have any weight to them.

I don't think Nat personally is untrustworthy, if your comment included me, I don't know him. I just tend not to trust CEO types in general, particularly on the subject of rumored acquisitions where the strong incentive is to deny or obfuscate.

I thought you had me on ignore. LOL. Of every BO member, I think you're probably the most addicted to what I write.

It never was "happening". No to answer your question.

Personally, I'm hoping there is no acquisition. SGC's grading capacity would only make a small and mostly unnoticeable dent in the PSA backlog.

I like the niche that SGC has carved in the hobby and have more options and competition is good for collectors. I use both PSA and SGC.

I think SGC's grading team could help out PSA significantly with the backlog and going forward but it would be at the expense of the hobby. Nat would not think to buy them if at some level he did not think they were a viable competitor. Opinions vary on that but fewer options for collectors (even those who are 100% loyal to PSA) is never a good thing.

Maybe! I believe SGC said they have the ability to grade 8,000 cards a week during their behind the scenes interview with SCI (which was great, btw). Just seems like it would be such a tiny dent into the PSA backlog unless SGC can scale up rapidly. Especially when you consider the downside of losing SGC as an option for collectors. I could be off in my numbers though.

I really enjoy SGC. Subjectively, I think their slabs look great on most bordered cards and objectively, they're the only town in show for reasonable turnaround times without breaking the bank.

PSA on the other hand is king when it comes to maximizing card value. I think both have a palce in the hobby.

It would be awful for the hobby. The one grading company that has there act together gets bought out by the one that is in way over there head. SGC kept there graders in house for the national to keep good to there promise of getting card graded in an efficient amount of time. Meanwhile PSA and BGS who are so many months behind it's comical. Send some of there staff to grade cards at ridiculous prices. Without a care in the world just to make a quick buck I think that time could have been better spent don't you?

If PSA kept SGC open as SGC, instead of just wrapping them up all under the PSA umbrella - then it could work well. It would increase SGC legitimacy (and hopefully market sentiment on their price).

It’s funny reading these and looking how wrong some people were and yet how serious they took their own incorrect opinion.
