Big pick up for me, vintage stock to /99! I figured it would go much higher than it did. Can’t wait to get it in hand.

Nothing against your card, buy what you like, but most collectors haven't ever cared for Vintage Stocks. I personally wouldn't want one. They always have been relatively cheap

You might want to delete that post. Pretty sure it's illegal somehow.

I wonder why that is? No color? A flagship rookie to /99 seems like it would command more attention just based on low numbering alone. It’s either Gold to /2018 or independence to /76 or blacks which get crazy in price. I think both those look better than vintage stock but I’ll take the multiple 4 figure discount.

I can't speak for ALL collectors, but for me personally the vintage stocks aren't "different" enough to the base for me to care as much as I do about golds, father's day blues, mother's day pinks, indys and camos.

For similar reason I've never really understood the appeal of the "advanced stat" parallels in recent topps flagship. Only real difference is numbered /300 on the back and different stat lines? I'll pass.

That being said, its still a flagship rookie parallel /99 and if you love it don't let my personal tastes lessen your joy for the card.

I think it's bc on it's face the only difference in the card from the base card is the little Topps logo. I personally still think it's great card but it lacks the pop the other parallels have

Yes advanced stats parallel is to me the dumbest flagship parallel there is

I love vintage stock. Thicker cardstock, more matte colors. Also very condition sensitive and hard to grade so it creates a fun challenge.

Looks exactly the same as a base card just with a /99 slapped on the back.

If you like it, that's all that matters. There's just a really large contingent of this hobby that won't pay a premium for it and I doubt that will ever change. But if you're looking for something inbetween Gold and Black, the Update Refractors /250 are not much more than the $500 you paid for the Vintage Stock. If the Update rookie ever becomes the more desirable rookie again, like it used to be, those are going to absolutely skyrocket.

It's hard to see Update flipping S2/TC, but it was also hard to see S2/TC flipping Update before it happened. But S2/TC did always the "first" going for it, where there's not really a compelling reason for Update to flip back as most valuable besides being more scarce. Update was ahead before because Update was the more desirable, rarer brand in the hobby because of Trout rookies. That doesn't seem to be a thing in the hobby anymore. If you had a situation where Fanatics decided to really cut down the print run of Update again, and you had a generational player with only the Update rookie to make Update look like the hot product again, mayyyybe it could flip again for Ohtani. But that seems like a longshot
