Devils advocate - Topshot had 3-4 months where it was very quiet/small before it exploded. People had stuff they forgot about in their accounts from November 2020 that became 5 figures

Yup...I thought for sure there was gonna be more demand...especially how crazy high the green and red test pack cards were going..but right now i just dont see the upside. Im not saying all packs should double or more your money..but i just dont see the value in these right now. I mean for $15 a pack it seems like the absolute best you can do is get a $50 or so card with lebron (sans low serials for certain stars)..but a saw a lot of high voltage cards selling for 10 or less and the majority of the base is worthless. I thought challenges would provide some extra value but it really doesnt seem like it is in my opinion outside of the lebron challenge.

Yeah I think the pack price is a bit too high, but I'd also like to see a little more fun in the packs. 2 base and 1 silver is okay, but with no chance to get something crazy it seems a little bleh. If it was normally 2 base and 1 silver but rarely you could get a /50 or less it would at least more fun to open.

they could roll out some more challenges or maybe some more creative challenges to get more activity; the lebron is good but really there aren't a ton of people that will get all the cards needed so leaves all the other cards stagnant; although know it is early i've tried to get involved some but there is going to be millions of nft's out there eventually with no real interest in them without creating some fun

Silver packs just aren’t a good deal, huge risk to gamble on them. The insert sets sell out within 5min (though High Voltage also struggling).

This platform needs the announced changes in place first to really take off.

I'll just say this, if the marketplace were working perfectly and things were flipping for 10x immediately and easily there'd be no opportunity. The fact that it's such a painful experience right now is why I've been buying.

Does anyone believe Panini won't improve the marketplace?

Does anyone believe Panini isn't going to invest heavily into this space? The margins must be incredible and way higher than physical.

I've gotten so many cards for $20 and under that would be worth $100+ if this just reached the level of ... Topps NFTs! (Did you think I was going to say TopShot?)

Does anyone believe Panini NBA's first packs can't be as valuable as Topps NFTs where you can't even get into the market easily with a credit card (as an American) if you didn't get packs?

I've gone pretty deep into this, just sticking mostly to guys like Lebron, Lamelo, Luka.

This thing will take off at some point. It'll get a boost so many different ways. When they roll out a functional marketplace, prices will go up. When they launch NFL tons of new customers will come in. When they release next season's Prizm set prices will go up.

I'm more bullish on this than TopShot because the company understands collecting. You're not going to see them torpedo the entire thing with 40,000+ runs.

The market is so soft right now that 100 people coming in willing to spend at market and slightly above would shift the entire thing upwards. Just 100! I've already noticed this happening with the /149 silvers. Stars and rookies have dried up majorly.

I wish they would have done what Topps did at the very minimum…..have inserts in their base and silver packs like ‘autos’, refractors, etc. Make a Chronicles style NFT pack that has other 1/1’s, 1/5’s black refractors, etc. Loot box laws are not applicable here in the US so restrict sales to US for these if it’s a concern..

If not, then at least make the NFT’s different from the regular card releases. Different pictures, different series that does not exist in physical form etc. It is quite boring (like Topps) that there is nothing really different about these other than being basically a ‘scan’ of a physical card. The entire NFT and crypto space has really softened too and the ‘shiny new penny’ that NFT’s were has worn off.

I completed the Voltage challenge. Had to buy 4 to complete it and glad I did it sooner rather than later. I think prices will tick upwards for the 10 cards needed as the challenge gets close to the end.

As an international buyer I’m glad they don’t do that! I’m priced out of the hobby for quite some since logistics are just too expensive to get cards delivered from the US so,I’m very interested in NFT products.

I also disagree with the status of the NFT market, maybe Topshot is struggling (because they don’t know how collectibles work), but many other NFT projects continue to be very successful.

I made a post about this earlier but I fully agree. I think Panini needs to look for some kind of balance between the packaging similar to TS and other projects that have some light motion or action like the Space Jame NFTs.

Obviously it doesnt need to be a full blown video clip, but something with the background or the parallel itself. Could you image how cool a blue velocity NFT would look if it pivoted on its vertical axis to mimic the light motion of the refractor boxes? Awesome. Seeing the vibrant pop of disco parallels. Pow! The silvers having that rainbow effect that makes it feel like you are holding a real one in your hand. Next level.

Panini has everything in place from a catalog perspective, now they just need to apply that next level of pop so its more than just a digital image.

I think it’s just a matter of time when they bring more animated cards to the mix.

Oooo. I didnt know about those. They look great. This is the kind of look that Net Marvel should have had, or better said, will prob have in the future.

It makes sense tho. Digital scans are the low handing fruit and gets the platform up and running with incremental refinements.
