Buyer epicsportscards1 submits a $400 offer on a card which I accepted, then immediately requests a cancellation and sends a message saying -

"Hey I’m stupid and put in slot Offers last night on a lot of cards and a bunch got accepted wasn’t prepared for for that do you think u can cancel. I apologize"

This is why I send a ton to COMC to not have to deal with these idiots...

Good evening,

I wanted to reach out because you sent an offer that I got for 10% off. I'm interested in the card, but it's selling for $20 to $35, not the $70 that you're offering. Is there any chance we can get it down there?
***

His response:

***I would do $35***

So, I send an offer for $35, thanking him.

3 hours later he declines the offer and blocks me. Makes no sense. I have 100% feedback and over 4k in transactions.
Alls well that ends well. Got eBay to cancel the first order and they kept the negative I gave him up. It’s a well deserved neg. Guy with 40k feedback should know better.

Flatbed scanners don't show surface gloss very well. It's absolutely possible to do better with a phone camera, since it can grab pics at an angle.

Scanners are nice, but limited. It's totally understandable to me that a potential buyer might want more images for some cards.

It really depends on the price point and the type of card.

Did he offer returns or was it canceled through eBay money back in the 3-day window? If the latter there could be mixed opinions since it would have had to be INAD.

No question sellers behavior with the second card was jerkish though.

I am confused. Why did you neg him and cancel the first order? How is that related to the second one?

Same here. Had he not shipped? If he shipped then the neg sounds more retaliation for him blocking you which he was well within his rights as a seller to do

Two days after I shipped I got the message, "The address you have is wrong, please ship to ..." Nope the address I had was correct, it is going somewhere.

Blocking- total discretion of the seller, they can block anyone, for any or no reason at all. If a message rubs them the wrong way, an offer was too low, something as trivial as someone's username, or their feedbak count, or no reason at all.

Saying they would accept $35, then after 3 hours declining and blocking- A bad look for sure. Not technically breaking an ebay policy though. This is a possible side effect of negotiating through messaging rather than the proper channel....just make offers/counteroffers through the system where it's a little more official/binding, and let it play out. Seller cannot then accept your $35 offer then cancel it without having to deal with possible repercussions like potential negs or dings. It's possible here the seller was offended by the low offer (even though your logic supports it), and did it all including saying they'd accept just to be vindictive, hard to say.

Whether or not the first was shipped affects the optics. If it was shipped, shouldnt be canceled for INAD if it really wasnt. The second transaction is separate, and as stated above even in the second, seller is not breaking official policies. If the first wasnt shipped...then why is the seller taking over a week to ship it out would be my question.

Im not defending the seller here though, I do think it's a bad look on them how they handled that second transaction, even if technically within their right.

How did you know you were blocked? Did you send a follow up message after the $35 offer was declined?

Side question for the group:
Yes or no? Even if blocked, one can still communicate with a seller if there is an recent transaction.

One way to know is you send another offer or try adding the item to your cart to buy and it’ll say seller is not accepting business from you- something like that.

The messages after block is iffy territory. Sellers have to have the box selected in their buyer management settings “do not accept messages from blocker buyers”. Even then, I may be wrong, but if it’s in relation to an existing purchase the buyer made, messages still might go through. Do not know if that carries over to just offers made, but it probably does for previous purchases.

He didn’t ship the card. I bought one card. Negotiated on another card a week later, agreed to a price then declined and blocked me. Held my first card up for two weeks without shipping. I couldn’t get a hold of him because he blocked me. What was I supposed to do? Just sit there and hope that he ships it? I contacted ebay and asked them to step in and refund me. Left neg afterwards.

It makes sense when you explain it that way. Reading it the first time made no mention of him holding the first card to ship together. Have you put the guy's name on blast here, because I am sure that quite a few guys would like to block him.

Yes that’s a different thing altogether, I thought he sent the first card already, and you returned it because the second transaction. Weird how they didn’t ship it out after 1 to 2 weeks.

Ebay no longer allows communication even if there is a recent transaction once blocked, if the seller has that preference selected

If it's a sub $10 card they get blocked for asking. The ones who ask are typically either grade chaser or tire kickers not worth tge time or potential headache

Yes it changes things. That said blocking a seller does not atop you from buying from them.

If someone asks me for more than I already provide (front n back scans) on a sub $10 card, yeah. Easy block.

Super Easy.

I have some slabs listed on my ebay site. I received a message about three of them, some Prizm football slabs. The sum of the going rate of the three slabs is about $125. So nothing too major. The person who sent me the message wants me to do all three for $60. This buyer even messaged me a few weeks ago about buying some slabs. I cut him a deal and he backed out. He then asked to hold one of the slabs until he got some money. Now wants to low ball me for $50 off. Might just click the ban button on him and be done.

I would block and move on, especially since they already backed out of a deal.

Why does the potential buyer feel that information is pertinent at all?
