Totally agree on Cyclops- he’s a top 5 art in the set imo. And I get that about Nightcrawler. For the same reason of being out of marvel cards for so long, I think Surfer, Doom, and FF get some extra attention in this set. But that Nightcrawler art itself is also rad- when I was a kid growing up collecting the 92MM set, always liked that card. I’ve been there with the quick 15 min sale in some ways can be annoying but in other ways it’s also a nice chunk of change.

Anyone picking up recent stuff? Here’s a few random pickups lately

I’m not sure what the interest level is on the plates. I think they’re kinda cool. As for the Iceman orange lava- thought that was kinda neat how it somewhat matches the original 92MM Iceman with orange background. For the orange lavas I’m not collecting the set…just picking up random ones that stand out. I do like them and think they are among some of the best that pop in hand.

Looking for some input on best storage for chrome cards. Specifically regarding the bowing that chrome cards are notorious for. By bowing I mean the card taking on a curve like a “C” as time goes on.

Already notice it slightly in this set, but more concerned with long term future with the chrome parallels.

What is the best way to “keep them flat”…

1. In a binder stored flat with the weight of the pages above the lower pages at least. How much do cards bow in a binder with weight above them?

2. Snug tight in a white long box or shoebox ..how well does that prevent bowing?

3. In a toploader. Does the toploader take on the bow shape long term?

4. In a grading slab. What happens then? Can cards bow in them?

Also is this true?

Apocalypse and Adam Warlock #9 and #10 do not exist for all the regular version numbered parallels that are not PMGs. In other words, there is no #9 or #10 for the following:

Pink Lasers
Red Prism
Gold Seismic
Orange Lava
Emerald Surge
Golden Treasures

At least I think that’s true per epack observations. Something to keep in mind if you’re putting together any of those parallel sets.
The do exist for unnumbered parallels, such as blue traxx, and are error backs. I believe they also exist as PMGs and are errors backs, but would have to check.

This is what I have seen as well.

For the chrome card question… slabs and mags work well, but for more basic chrome, top loaders are the most efficient way. In a binder works if they are towards the bottom. I have found chrome cards typically don’t bow unless they are loose.

Thanks for the insights. One touch may not be a bad idea since the case itself cant bend. Depends what the card does in it I guess. I noticed the parallel sets like blue traxx I have on top part of my binder are starting to take on a very slight bow shape already, so maybe what I’ll do is stick the chrome parallels on the lower part of the binder and all non-chrome parallels like canvas and leather on the upper side since they shouldn’t bend.

Of course I’ve heard before that anything that naturally bows, will…nearly regardless of measures. Like you’d think a fully snug long box of chrome cards wouldnt, but I think it still will. You see old topps junk wax sets snug in their box still bowed, etc. I guess my motivation is to at least mitigate it, even if I can’t fully stop it.

Yea as for the apoc and warlock, I was playing around with the idea of the gold seismic set…and then realized…wait there is no #9 or #10 lol.

2 recent pickups, some goldies. It would take like 97 cases on average to pull a GT from hobby (likewise 97 cases for a GT cover variant). If our rough 175k hobby box calculations above are correct. So needless to say only way Im getting any is by singles.

Edit: and some Surfer blue. Not really going for a PMG set or anything though

These are the only gold 1/1’s I have seen so far. Nice pick ups!

Thanks. I personally like the Golden Treasure 1/1s over the gold PMG 1/1s in this. I think because the superfractor look and I associate it with 1/1s the most.

I had to stay to these caliber characters (common to minor star) since…I’m not gonna put down over like $5k for a card, just can’t justify that. Not that long ago the Wolverine GT hit ebay for like $40k. Lasted a few moments then was off there in a hot second.

1/1s bug me a little though since I’m a collector and like to complete sets, and you can’t do that with 1/1s.

Yeah, they don’t pop up often, so when they do there is no telling what they will go for.

I haven’t seen any of the gold PMG yet either.

Don’t feel bad. I’m building the canvas, rainbow, blue trax sets right now. Picking up any pmg or #d refractors that get listed low enough, but that’s where I stop. It will take me some time to start building the #d sets.

I do plan on eventually building all sets in this product though. I’m going to get the base set, and canvas set together, and then buy a hobby box so I can build off what I get out of that. Hopefully pull something #d 100 or less.

I saw a weird error yesterday in a break. Metallurgy with Quicksilver on the front, Deathlok on the back

Oh man....I want! That's actually the first non-Apoc/Warlock error Im aware of in 92 Plat, if you dont count the flipped serial # that affected some pmgs.

Hmmm..deathlock #28.. quicksilver #71. Trying to figure out how that could be oriented with a flipped uncut sheet (do metal cards have "sheets"?). Not lining up with the OG 92 sheet (not that they'd use that). Also not lining up with a 10x10 grid in order 1-100.

It is not an uncorrected error- I see a correct quicksilver metallurgy on comc sold. Guessing a fluke misprint...which would affect the whole set if they used sheets....

I haven't seen one either, at least not in an auction site. I have only seen one pulled by a breaker on What Not, but so far, none have been for sale.

At least you saw one....that card must be a beauty. I dont think I have seen any of the emerald surge Surfers either. And certainly no gold 1/1s. Gold pmg Surfer would be such a nuts card.

It kinda worked out the top 6 or so cards all dont have white border issues on the PMGs...well at least not prominent ones...

Spidey, Wolverine, Venom, Surfer, Psylocke, Cap
