Either he made a really dumb decision or that was never a real offer.

Rosenthal reported he turned down what could have been (I’m assuming with incentives) a 4-year $60 mil deal from the Mets

The 30-year-old Grandal, who turned down a one-year, $17.9 million qualifying offer from the Los Angeles Dodgers and could have pursued a four-year deal worth in excess of $50 million from the New York Mets, instead wound up with the Brewers, who stretched beyond their planned budget to sign him, sources told ESPN.

With move to sign Grandal Brewers push projected opening day payroll up to $123.5 million dollars a club record. Also with signing as a team that gets money thru the revenue sharing program Brewers will forfit their 3rd highest selection in the draft (pick 104). Meanwhile the dodgers will likely get a comp pick for losing him in the 70s-80s.

• There is "momentum" building toward a Bryce Harper return to Washington. (Mark Feinsand, MLB.com)

• The Yankees reportedly aren't out of the running for Bryce Harper, but they haven't recently engaged in negotiations or submitted an official offer. New York are not going to meet a believed $325 million-plus target or even $300 million. (Jon Heyman, Fancred)

• The Phillies, who are set to meet with Bryce Harper in Las Vegas this week, are also amping up their pursuit of Manny Machado. (Mark Feinsand, MLB.com)

• Machado's camp still seeking a deal worth $300 million or more. Neither the White Sox nor the Phillies' offers are believed to be close to that ask as of now, and the Yankees have yet to make official offer. (Jon Heyman, Fancred)

Bryce is staying in DC. He’s a god up here with the Nate fans. They value him far more than anyone else do and will pay up.

Machado will be a Phillie

Braves will trade for Trout for Ender and player to be named later. Book it

Great signing by the Brewers of Grandal, that's a great add for them. If they get Bumgarner in the potential trade with SF they could be scary squad.

Brian Dozier to the Nationals. I know it's not a major signing but any vets they bring in has to help convince Harper to come back.

I think Dozier is a bounce back candidate. Granted, I'm also a biased Twins fan who has a dog named Dozier, but still see him doing better than this past season.

I wish him the best! I'm glad he went somewhere that I can still cheer for him without having to root against his team. Hopefully he goes out and has a really strong year and gets rewarded with a multi-year contract next season

I was hoping Harper would stay with the Nats even before this, but now I'd like to see it even more. They already have a lot of talent that's so fun to watch (Scherzer, Stras, Corbin, Soto, Trea, hopefully Robles this year, and others), and Harper's a guy that would be cool to see stay with the same squad. Now with the addition of Doze, I'm hoping even more Harper stays and they have a fantastic year

How awesome would that be. No way it would happen but it would be amazing!

Really hate this because I like Dozier but hate the Nats.

The Lerners said months ago they would spend whatever was necessary to keep him, it was just a matter of him wanting to be there.

I thought this headline was from the Onion:

Brewers Improve Team Through Novel Strategy Of Spending Money On Talented Player

The Mets are a fourth place team but half the fans on here think they are contenders. What a joke

Why would Machado choose the Phillies over the White Sox? And why would the Angels trade Trout for Inciarte and one other guy? Neither of those predictions make any sense.

The Phillies are much closer to contention than the White Sox, which is pretty evident in their 2018 record. Also, with the addition of Mccutchen and Segura, it shows that the Phillies are willing to make moves to become a true competitor. Who have the White Sox added this off season? So if Machado wants to play for a better team, then he would choose the Phillies. But why would that make sense?

The two guys he works out with in the offseason, one of which is his brother-in-law. Bringing in people that he is around all the time to make him comfortable and make it an easy transition to a new team/city. Some guys put a lot of stock in that.

Because when I see Machado and his play style, I think "wow, that guy must be a real family man"

Philles are a far better team than Chicago and will toss him $300m when nobody else will.

Trout to Atlanta will actually just be a PTBNL now that I think of it.

It’s a matter of dollars for Bryce and he wants the richest deal in sports history. He will get just that once Machado signs I think
