I don't know if I've ever said this before, but I'd love to give you a 10,000% return on one of these. I hear stories like this and it just amazes me that you could have dumped $500-1000 on Trout stuff in the beginning and you could just go out and buy a house with it.

Probably BGS, not concerned with resale value just want to protect them. I prefer PSA but I don't want to pay the crazy upcharge if they gem.

I bought most all of my Trouts between 2009 and early 2012. I did well but I made a few mistakes along the way. I remember being outbid on numerous Hopes and Blacks which went for $25-30 and passed on a 2009 Blue Refractor Auto for $60 because of a surface dimple. As they say, hindsight is 20/20.

Crazy to me that Diamonds are pushing 10k and base is 3k+ and yet Target Red isn't really seeing any noticeable movement as of yet. Target Red 9.5s started hitting 15k back when base PSA 10s were still in the $1000 range.

im hoping it just because there arent many reds out there to buy, so there havent been many recent comps. theres an 8.5 at auction right now at 10k with some time left, interested to see where that lands. I just picked up at red 9.5 about two months ago so im super interested to know what thatd get right now.

There wasn’t a huge gap between Diamond and Red 3-4 years ago. Back when o sold my red raw for $600 and thought I absolutely killed it lol. Then red took off and left Diamond in the dust. As someone that owns 3 Diamonds (2 PSA 10s and a PSA 9), selfishly I’d like to see them get closer to price again. Then maybe I’ll be able to trade a Diamond (and some extras perhaps) for a really nice looking red.

The reds dont pop up for sale often. They are more rare than diamonds for sure. The BGS 8.5 for auction should give some insight as to where the red stands

3rd time listing in just over a month. Sold it for 10K, then 9.5K and then this latest effort. Just trying to establish a 9K+ market... I hate people like that.

We've seen this same message pretty consistently in this thread. Is $3,000 really considered "affordable"? I know it's all relative when it comes to Trout, but the bar's already pretty high, regardless of print run...

The Sterling should be at least 3x value of Topps Update, it’s been proven over time to be the case many times. The recent explosion in Topps Update has these cards severely undervalued. When people wake up the Sterling PSA 10 will be a $10k card in my opinion.

It’s tough for the market to move with limited supply as there is not much of a market to watch.

I've been saying this for years already. It's never been a secret that Sterling has a significantly smaller print run but people flock to the Update because it's the picture of the swing of his 1st MLB at bat.

I'll take a more rare card anytime over a card with a tremendous print run. 2011 prime cuts ring a bell? Prime cuts is /99 with no variations and unlicensed but it trumps all Trout cards because of rarity.

For a Trout rookie card, where Trout only has 7 RC cards total (go look at how many rookie cards Ronnie, Soto, the Polar Bear, and Judge have for perspective)...yes, I say $3k is affordable for a Trout RC card with such limited print run.

People here paying almost 2k for an Update PSA 10 that has a pop in the thousands!!! While a member here won the Sterling gold /50 for $3,950 via auction....well done to that member.
