Messi and CR7 are the sure bets, I’ve definitely bought up plenty as well. Lots of promising youngsters as well, some starting to get a bit more pricey than others.

As the soccer market evolves and is capable of supporting more than 2-3 megastars, I’m willing to bet the hobby love will get spread around a bit more than we are seeing right now. To me, Neymar would be a very logical choice while his stuff is low. Very little risk at this moment. If he doesn’t build momentum again, no big loss, but a lot could be gained if he does.

Some people selling Messi 18-19 refractors are perplexing me. They are letting purple and blue go for the same price as regular refractors on BIN and offers. I’m out of spending money at the moment so I was unable to scoop them up. Am I taking crazy pills or maybe just let them play out in an auction? Still not much color from 17-18 going up for Messi or CR7. Waiting impatiently to see some auctions on these haha.

Neymar's a great player to bring up, because he was just as hyped when he moved to Barcelona in 2013 as Mpabbe is now. And what are his cards worth now....20-30% of what they were prior to the 2014 WC?

Another great example of a player who was tremendously hyped but never lived up to expectations was Michael Owen.

At January 2020 prices, Mbappe's cards had tons of potential....now, at current prices, they're priced for perfection. Anything short of multiple Champions League titles and another international title or two with France and he'll be in Neymar-land.

Not sure about any of this. I just sold a Neymar silver from 2014 for $140. Would have taken $10 for it in 2014.

Mbappe is on a reverse trajectory as Neymar. He has already won a World Cup, plays for a nation with the deepest talent pool in the World that will be in the World Cup or Euro Championship spotlight every two years, and is likely to move from a smaller league to one of the biggest club teams in the World.

I am a little skeptical of what is happening to the market, but I am happy to ride the wave and there is every reason to think that Mbappe is here to stay.

There was a raw and a BGS 9, and I bet whoever consigned them is pretty steamed that Probstein labeled them both as "refrcators" rather refractors.

That seller definitely has a thing for Black Velocities haha. Did you check out all of the other ones he has for sale? Smart move because Black Velocities are one of the most loved parallels in the hobby and as more crossover from basketball/football comes over, Black Velocity is familiar as one of the best!

Is the dude that hit the De Ligt Black Velocity in one of Cy's (Soccer Breaker FC's) breaks a couple weeks ago on here?

It's different for soccer collectors man. For so long, it used to be about autos. Just look at some of the prices retired players and semistars command, you have tons of guys whose autos would cover a box a few months ago.

As people from other sports started collecting soccer, things changed.

Neymar was 600-800 out of the gates. It was more due tothe hype about the 1st prizm. Baggios were pulling in around 750-900 at that time.

Neymar settled at around 350 before the world cup. I sold 2.

You quoted about autos, for football the autos go for a premium as there aren't much autos out there for the popular players. Everybody wants an auto of their favourite player/players.

The shiny cards are popular in other sports because there are a ton of autos for all players and people want something rarer to collect.

Vinicius is a Brazilian National who plays for Madrid with insane skill and Havertz is a German National who is already cracking top player lists that is rumored to make a jump to a larger club sooner rather than later. Both have Optic rookies and the parallels are getting love. Predicting a sizable spike in the lesser known Bundesliga Chrome RC of Havertz soon.

This conversation inspired me to check my saved eBay searches, 2 Bundesliga chrome popped up. I bought one, but there’s still another available if anyone is interested. They don’t show up all that often.

I'm glad I latched onto these two last year as I've been buying them up as part of my plan. I am glad to see them get some heat, but the fire will get hotter as both are stellar players IMHO.. Especially Junior, that kid has mad skills. He will have more appeal simply due to the national team he plays on as well. Both are in the top 10 players under 21.

I was actually referring to the 2018-19 Bundesliga Chrome Havertz base RCs that had just popped up. There’s some Future Stars and larger lots as well. The gold Future stars refractor is unfortunately being sold through Probstein

Right now unopened soccer is gaining some serious steam, but good luck if you are ripping though!

I'm definitely opening one case when they come in, that's for sure. I'll consider the second case depending on how well I feel I do. Besides Havertz, I'm not sure if there are any other big cards in the set, besides the autos or colored refractors of the bigger stars. It's going to be a lot of fun no matter what.
