Too early for mvp talk? If dude throws 80-100 innings and under 3 era, along with 30 bombs and a .900 ops, how do they deny him?

Unless someone comes in a breaks one of the unbreakables, I don’t think you would be able to have anyone else be the MVP.

However, that is a big IF, with him pulling that off, and it is still barely 1/10 of the way through the season.

The mind blowing thing is, if that gets him MVP, that is what the Angels expect him to do every year, so would he be MVP every year if he achieves those or greater numbers every year?

Also, how many MVPs have we had who are on losing teams? Their .500 right now, so that could go either way.

Ohtani collecting was a very unique situation. Not often a top echelon athlete has a gaping two-year buying window. There were few that believed (in context to initial hype) and you just happen to have a handful of those fools in this thread

On Feb. 21st 2021 I bought an Ohtani 2018 TC ref PSA 9 for $25 and (2) 2018 TC PSA 10s for $50 each on MySlabs. It's insane how cheap his stuff was and how much his prices have raised in a pretty short time. My only regret is not buying much, much more

Yep. People were so quick to move on from this guy and put him in the Pat Venditte novelty category. His stuff was DIRT cheap for about a year.

Some context - My top 3 Ohtani buys since 2018:

3. BCA Base Pitching Auto (became a PSA 10) - $400
2. HHN Red Ink /69 Auto - $500
1. HMT1 Red Refractor (became a PSA 10) - $100

No comps found. Looks like these are super rare. I think the one advertised as a B&W on eBay right now is actually the more-commonly inserted retail Sepia.

I'm sure this one is more valuable than that one

Anyways, nice find and looks gem mint to my peepers...

I bought the blacks raw for $150 average. I also have Acuna and Soto TU black. Acuna TU black sold recently for 15K. Ohtani black at 2.5K is still cheap compared to Acuna and Soto imo. Same is true for Ohtani's BC Auto, TC Refractor parallels, TC Sapphire, and other TU parallels such as Indy, Fathers day, Mothers day.

I agree. While some have deeper pockets and more disposal income that doesn’t mean a thing. I’ve gotten lucky by getting in early on some guys over the years but I am happy to say, I have never come out of pocket more than $300 for ANY card in my collection. Buy what you like, stay within your means and enjoy the hobby!
