I'm happy his best flagship gold is getting love, but there's a serious market inefficiency with the pricing of his other #700 parallels. Probably an opportunity.

Trueblue....I know that you and I buy Ohtani on the opposite spectrum (you are mainly a high end collector/seller, and I am a low end/medium end collector) and I am guessing you are alluding to his other numbered parallel cards, but from my perspective his rainbow foils are greatly undervalued by the market considering they have a similar print run to the gold/2018.

while i agree with you on the Foil assessment, Topps did them no favors by not numbering them and made it worse when they introduced gold foil in 2020

the PR on 2023 regular foils is now in the 10K area, while Topps Golds (not foil) are /2023

Exactly.

Topps destroyed the PR on rainbow foils after 2019. Although similar PR as the gold, it doesn't have a serial # and it's way easier to grade than the gold. I was referring more to the SP, SSP and vintage/pink/blue/camo varieties.

I thought the camo/pink/blue were undervalued in the offseason which is why I finally decided to pick them up.

The camo was the most egregious example IMO. Even though its a pop 1 in a PSA 9 (with none higher) I picked it up for just $300 more than I paid for the indy.

Agree, but not many golds on the market at all.

SP is higher than I thought, but makes sense as there are usually plenty available.

In the past others on here have said SP ~2500 and SSP ~250.

I have been trying to collect print run information on all the 2018 products Ohtani is in. If anyone wants to exchange info let me know. If anyone has the print run information for the 2018 products let me know...I am happy to pay something or send a Ohtani card for the information.

Yeah... but 2018 Indy is one of the most visually appealing parallels ever, while camo is and always has been an abomination. Frankly, I'd probably be willing to pay MORE for Indy than camo.

Yeah, 2018 camo had a really bad rep as the ugliest parallel and didn't get much love, but a PR of 25 will change a lot of things with a generational talent.

Yeah, pretty much. Black /67 has routinely outsold camo too.

I recall 2018 to be slightly lower, but doesn't really matter. Some of the most desirable image with a limited PR.

Funny how much I see Ohtani mentioned in seemingly every other player thread, people realizing they were betting on the wrong horse. Ohtani is a unicorn making his own lane.

Never too late to collect. Gonna have to really look for good deals, but they are still out there

Hey guys, was looking for some advice. I grabbed a couple BBM second version Ohtani’s recently. Seems like there are a lot of fakes roaming around of his Japanese cards, but haven’t heard of fakes of this specific card. I was planning on shipping each to my nephews and one for my son. (Gonna crack the one in the shitty PRO holder). Any tips of what to look for/avoid?

I don’t know if it helps to see pics. Sorry for the glare.
