I don’t see the Astros set on the website.
Not that I would buy one, but just odd that they left it out.

White Sox auto set is now sold out.

The baseball market is heavily tilted towards, and invested in, the pack released Bowman and Topps 'flagship' products, including the Chrome releases.

Topps Now remains a semi-niche product that has some keen devotees, and also many critics. Prices for the 'base' Now cards do not reach the level of the mainstream products, despite the number of cards printed being substantially less.

For example, a PSA 10 Mike Trout 2017 Topps Chrome White Jersey Refractor recently sold for $124.99. There are 222 of these that have been graded PSA 10.

A PSA 10 2017 Topps Now #146 Mike Trout 'Youngest to 150 HRs' card sold for $29.99. This card has a total print run of 1,222, and 46 have been graded, with 40 achieving a PSA 10.

A PSA 10 Mike Trout 2016 Topps Chrome 'Jumping' Refractor sold for $136. There are 180 of these graded PSA 10.

A 2016 Topps Now Off-Season 'MVP award' card (OS31A) sold for $15.39. This card had a print run of 1,488, with 23 PSA 10s out of 26 graded.

I know this is a cherry picked small sample size, but I doubt you will find many (or any) exceptions to this pricing reality - Flagship & Chrome >> Topps Now.
I AGREE WITH YOUR ASSESSMENT

I feel that the "On Demand" products whether Topps or Panini, although in theory when crash numbered to limited editions, still are factually scarce in the established print runs, there's something about the fact that the way they're distributed makes them less elusive than pack inserts.

To me, a 1 of 1 card of Mike Trout you can buy online, just needing to either throw cash at it, have the fastest fingers on the internet or programmed bots to secure it... is somewhat less prestigious than pulling a 1 of 1 card randomly inserted through a print run of thousands of cases, boxes and packs. Same 1 of 1 card, still only 1 exists, but feels like "paying for parking" versus driving around and finding the perfect free parking space.

I do notice the secondary hobby market reflects what I speculate is the lack of prestige in many of these on-demand timed releases. The Topps Project 2020 was a phenomenon that recently went awry and most releases of the past 2 months, since basically bandwagon spec buyers who buy quantities pushed production numbers past 5,000 per release, and into the 10k+ realm, where prior it was under 3k, so the core set building collectors I feel are in that 3-5k range and there's too much excess floating around and a lot of buyers who now regret stocking up and ready to product dump.

It's too bad, since the cards are pretty nice across most of Topps Now releases. I think the "stat backs" of traditional cards is what could potentially bring life to a Topps Now series, commemorating a player more than an event and putting the traditional stat back (which in my days was the determing factor of a valued card vs an "All-Star" or "Highlights" card that just had text backs.

I do like the Postseason MLB team sets and bonus card concept. For some reason I thought the autographed sets were also print on demand, but I noticed The LA Dodgers and NY Yankees autographed sets both sold out. I wonder if their base sets are special and different than the regular timed release sets or is it simply just inserting an autographed card into the larger production run of all team sets.

Are they from Topps to certain customers? What is the coupon? A % or $ off ?

Thanks!

I ordered 20 and got 'em on Thursday last week.

No special ltd ed variants.

I've NEVER gotten a special ltd ed inserted card from Topps, but I'm a low volume buyer maybe and possibly it's reserved for the big volume orders, so the odds might not be truly random

You earn points for purchases (and other random stuff like birthdays and following Topps on Twitter), the points can be used to purchase coupons for $10 off, $20 off, $30 off, and $40 off

The print run of the base set is the same as the auto version. It just means the autos sold out. The white Sox set only has 756 autos.

Topps has a rewards program. It’s based off purchases and other activities.

500 points is worth $5 off a Topps now order, with the biggest reward being $40 off(4K points)

Just noticed that the topps now kyle lewis auto that I ordered on 9/15 is no longer in the My Orders section. I have an email confirmation from the order. Has anyone experienced this, or know if Topps put out a statement on this product?

Two really popular teams. In the case of the Dodgers, combine the fact that people have lots of points built up from Topps.com purchases meaning lots of $20 and 40 coupons, an $89 price point(ie $69 and $49 respectively for those with coupons), 378 total sets, an on card auto of one of two young superstars(Belli and Seager), and it’s an absolute slam dunk.

Note that final PR will be the 378 confirmed sold out auto sets PLUS however many non-auto sets ($30 w/o coupon) that are purchased.

Default 2020 Topps NOW

Dear Platinum Members,

Alex Gordon played his final game for the Kansas City Royals today as he announced his retirement. He played his entire 14 year career in Kansas City and was a key member of their 2015 World Series championship team. We are going to commemorate this final moment in his career with an autographed card. Here are the cards available:

# to 99
# to 49
# to 25
# to 10
# to 5

Please reply by 12:00pm EST tomorrow if you want to reserve any cards.

Best Regards,

The Topps NOW team

Surprising to see that Gordon is getting the auto treatment, but I think this is what the Now brand is supposed to be.
The program didn't really start with the assumption of having autos, but if any moment is to get one, it should be something like this.
I'm not even a fan of Alex Gordon, but pretty excited to see how the card turns out to be.

If the price is right, I'm probably going to buy one.

Thanks for the explanation. I think I have about 5,000 pts I've accumulated the past 3 months. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to keep them so I get more pts (since I thought I read you earn more points with the higher status you are and that might requiring having a certain balance banked into the account unused otherwise you go back down a few notches.

I'm surprised Alex Gordon is being celebrated with such fanfare as a career .257 hitter with less than 200 HR's, less than 1,000 RBI's, less than 2,000 Hits, Less than 1,000 Runs and a tad over 100 RB's, 'tho a 7x Golden Glove for his defense and a 3x AS, never an MVP.

He had a solid career and won a championship, but I don't think is even close to consideration for the Cooperstown HOF and by baseball card hobby standards, is probably seen as a prospect player gone bust, not living up to potential.

Maybe it has to do with his connection to that 2006 Topps Baseball Card and his early status within the baseball card hobby.

If this is happening for Gordon... what will they do when Joey Votto retires.

They track that. So yes, use your points.

He likely already owed Topps some autos. And by doing them through TN, Topps can get some of that money back.

I'm big on team colors, used a $40 off coupon and got a blue/49...nice looking card.

Probably answered somewhere in this thread - but does the print run on a single card include the numbered parallels, or is that the base run then we add on the parallels?
