Surprised no posts after Curry's masterpiece on Saturday. Single-handedly willed the Warriors to a win.

Not a showoff but I randomly stumbled upon someone's buy offer for a 2009-10 Topps Chrome Refractor Curry PSA 9. Buyer is offering $37k.

Obviously piqued my interest because I own a BGS 9. Always planned to keep it in the PC but every card has its price. How high can we expect this card to go?

I actually got a pretty strong/high offer on a Steph Curry Downtown. Was planning on holding it long-term since Steph is pretty much Mr. Downtown but like you said, every card has its price.

In general, I thought Steph was somewhat under appreciated. He seems to trail the MJ/Bron/Kobe group but culturally he's right up there. Maybe the market is starting to correct/overcorrect?

Are you planning to sell (or have already sold) it?

I agree with your comment that he's in the MJ/LeBron/Kobe group (aka hobby rushmore) and it's possible that the market is starting to correct. I've also recently noticed more influencers picking up key Curry RCs (as well as LeBron). Relative to MJ/Kobe and modern prospects/young stars, key Curry (and LeBron) cards are quite underpriced.

Also, with Topps regaining the NBA license in October, maybe investors/flippers are trying to identify Topps brands that will "replace" key Panini brands (for instance, Topps Chrome BKB for Prizm BKB).

Haven't sold it yet. I don't need the money but compared to the PSA 10 that sold earlier this summer, the offer is really strong. 1st year Downtown Curry is kinda like 1st year Scoring Kings MJ to me. Sell/hold...Talk me off the ledge. Haha

But to answer your original question, the TC refractor is Curry's #2 non-auto RC after the Gold Refractor, right? Short or long term, can't go wrong with it.

That's sexy! Almost pulled the trigger on one years ago, in hindsight, I should've picked it up haha.

Yeah, I'm in your same position. I don't need the funds (at least right now) but I feel like I could grow the funds to where I could re-purchase a similar graded copy and still have some leftover funds for other PC cards/wax. Not to mention, nothing goes up forever. But it's one of my favorite PC cards and it's in good condition (not all slabbed cards of the same grades are the same) so it's tough to even consider.

Yeah, basically (although it'd be #3 behind the superfractor [#1] and gold [#2]).

Oh right. The superfractor. How could I forget?

The Curry 2014-15 base Prizm black 1/1 was pulled about a week ago on Whatnot.

His market has definitely shifted upward this year. PSA 10s of his Topps #321 card were selling for ~$6k during the season but 2 sold for $9.6k the past month (during the offseason!). And it's not like he or the Dubs had a great postseason....got bounced and he was injured to boot. At the very least, demand for #321 has increased significantly.

And as this is the Curry showoff thread, here's my best card of him. Don't really love the design or the fact it's a sticker, but Curry rookie auto is Curry rookie auto (despite the college jersey he's depicted in lol).

That's cool. And yeah, rookie auto is rookie auto. That was a weird year, too, with the license switch.

I think long term, Curry stuff will be fine and appreciate. My only worry in terms of growth is the dude signs A LOT. Leaf, UD, Panini, Fanatics, 3rd party...seems like he's willing to sign for anyone. MJ/Kobe/Bron autos are all limited for one reason or another.

We'll see how much Bron signs now but Topps execs have said they're not going to flood the market.

Yeah, they didn't even bother airbrushing him in a GS uniform and just used a college photo and slapped on a Warriors logo. LOL

Definitely not the most expensive Curry card (by any stretch), but pulled this sweet color-match, Blue Glitter #'d 13/15!

Pulled a Lime Green "Winner Stays" #/199, too!

Why are his prices moving up so quickly rn?
I was shocked to see what PSA 9 Topps flagship Chef rookies are going for vs LeBron (i like and collect both players).

I recently noticed it as well and wondered myself (not that it wasn't warranted, it was just that all of a sudden, everyone wanted his Topps/TC rookie cards).

Relative to his accomplishments and contributions to the game, he's been a little undervalued.

He's widely popular amongst all demographics, including youthful generations with new/increased disposable income.

Arguments made about 09-10 Topps (and particularly TC) having relatively lower print-run than other hobby rushmore stars (including Kobe/LeBron).

Pulled and graded this card for a shop customer. From a Select blaster box of all things.
Currently with Fanatics Collect.

If you believe in Cardladder's Player Index, his market has grown over 41% the past 3 months. A player having their market increase that much over the offseason when his team didn't win the title or even come close is pretty crazy.

Even Ohtani's market cooled a little over the offseason despite winning MVP, Dodgers winning the World Series, and him becoming the first 50/50 player in MLB history. Though it has gone meteoric ever since the season started.

Default The Stephen Curry Showoff Thread

If Curry didn’t get hurt in the Playoffs last year the Warriors had every ability and way to easily make a Finals run. They were peaking and improving nicely as each game went on after Butler was added. Curry still has his game left while things are going very well and perhaps buyers’ money see that it’s possible for a 5th ring to appear before he retires and who knows maybe another. Since Curry is still actively playing and very much operating at a high level there is likely justified speculation going on to what could be in the foreseeable future. And some people probably just don’t want to miss out on this. It may surely take some dramatic or catastrophic event to happen to deter the current high interest in his cards.

LETS GO CURRY!!!!

I suppose a 5th (or 6th) ring is "possible." But the way things are going in the West, it's not probable.

The Warriors are getting older/slower, while most of the other teams in the West are still at peak powers or rising.

Yeah, it ain't happening. It sucks that Curry got hurt during last season's playoffs -- the Warriors could have made some noise and faced off against the Thunder in conference finals. But it was pretty unlikely they were going to win a championship -- they had problems putting away the Rockets, who were clearly not contending for a title.

Curry would have to join Jokic or Luka to go for another ring.

GS are a ways off.
