They are an average team at best with Dejounte back. They need to resign Bey and sign another big just to try to make the playoffs.

Bey sold.
It's blatantly obvious they're only try harding towards the home stretch just to spite the Hawnks on the unprotected pick. Especially after finding out they altered Dejoontay's carfax report. I swear if that man misses any more time next year...

He has had a pretty solid season though very quiet. Think he needs to get a new scenery after this season

So I was wondering if this thread died like Zions play and was not going to go dig it out of the heap bin so I am glad someone has bumped it up so we can talk about our fortunes in Zion cards that hang on a very very slim thread of hope that he might be traded or better yet get his shizzle together and become the ominpotent being he is supposed to be BUT I just decided to write a really long run on sentence instead.

- Zion/TM3/DeJounte seems like a solid Top 3 if you want to make the playoffs but there's no cap space after that. - Herb Jones is overpaid at this point but he's their best defender in the perimeter. - Bey is on a great expiring but pretty much the only one they can move that has value. I guess the hope is to sign a decent center and hope the rookies become better?

Zions actually pretty efficient this year and staying relatively healthy. If the pelicans weren't such a dumpster fire he would be getting more attention.

The big 3 are ok, but aren't instilling fear into any opposing squad. Queen was yet another dumb move in a sea of dumb moves. Draft Missi Elliot the year prior and waste your 1st on another iteration of Zion that offers zero rim protection. Fears is a complete bust. Until this team starts learning how to draft properly and steer clear of hyperathletic guards and finesse bigs, nothing will change.

I love Zion but he has not shown he can do anything different than just drive to the basket and shoot free throws Their half court basketball is a touch better with Murray in, they have to play transition basketball to be successful and not sure its sustainable with the players they have They have been winning against the teams they are supposed to beat and on a nice 7 game winning streak at home Be curious to see what they come up with next year Id say Murphy, Murray, and Bey are definite keeps

The thing about the NBA which is a bit easier in other sports is it is so reliant on superstars. You need a top 10 guy to win a championship (more times than not, a top 5) and second player in the top 25. Zion was supposed to be in the top ten category, he isn't even top 25. Murphy and Murray are good not great. Pelicans aren't winning anything until they get a legit superstar.

He was supposed to be a generational talent but didn't quite live up to the hype. Still an All-Star caliber player who can give you 22-25 PPG on great efficiency.
His problem is, almost all of his shots are near the rim. He can't shoot the 3 but he should add a mid-range game to make his life much easier. Not sure why he hasn't developed one at this point in his career. As soon as he loses a step, he'll find it much harder to get to the rack. If he can do that, he can easily jump to 27+ PPG and will be harder to guard. I'm a big fan of him and hopes he takes it up a notch going forward. |

I'm just glad he is healthy and playing. (Searching for the closest piece of wood to knock on.)

I remember seeing an interview he did before he was drafted and he said he loved MJ cause he played both ends and I thought he might have that same mentality. Sadly, he doesn't. Like you said, questionable effort. You can't teach desire. Guys like MJ, Kobe, Isiah had it. I hope one day it clicks for him.

That mf Fears really went for the 2 when they were down by 3.
Might legitimately have a lower iq than Dennis Smith Jr.
