Obviously Ohtani base cards can never come close to Trout due to their sheer abundance, but I could see at some point in the future where random base cards are $50 or something like that.
WAR will never be the measuring stick for card values thankfully.

Ohtani is no question the most popular player in the world right now though. He was already doing unicorn things and then striking out Trout to win the WBC in front of the whole world really cemented it.

The big increase from 2011 Topps to 2018 Topps makes Ohtani 2018 base raw value really hard to have a major bump upwards. Looking at your recent pickups, the Topps Chrome and the All Star Game stamped parallel are good buys. Can't discount out also where if Ohtani has some magical season where his numbers have him winning both the MVP and the Cy Young and leading his team to a World Series championship...that would certainly trigger a buying spree from new collectors jumping onboard where anything 2018 raw base that's bought now should see a significant bump upwards.

Thanks Eric. Short story: I broke 10 cases of 2018 heritage hobby and did pull one of these back then. Sold immediately for I think $1125. Hhn I broke 15 cases and pulled one of those blue autos as well and sold that one for $550. Figured I’d buy them back someday. Probably will skip the hhn. But couldn’t resist this one any longer.

Its interesting that you singled out the all stars and topps chrome prism. Every card I posted was a SP or SSP. The 2020 transcendent party was /7. Even the stadium club chrome has only a PR of 800 or so. The cards you singled out i think have 2 of the higher print runs. I don't know the print run on the Allen and ginter silver hotbox or the topps museum reprint, but I think one is a sp and the other a ssp.

Of the cards above the print runs I have some idea are
Blue foil~2018
Stadium club chrome~800
Topps chrome prism~2500
Sho time~200
Flame~1333
Blue future stars (800ish I think)

Anyone know the print runs on any of the other cards?

I know Panini is the redheaded stepchild of baseball cards, but this just popped from my latest submission. Pop 1.

With 2 steals yesterday, Ohtani is on pace for 20 SB. It would be awesome if he could join the exclusive 30/30 club.
Reduced pickoff attempts and increased base size should help. His MVP season he had 46HR/26SB.
Amazingly, Trout has only done it once in his career.

You love to see it...2-5, 3 RBI night...and taking the hill in about 15 hours.

The infamous "sorry, Hachi" card. I like it, no matter his facial expression.

Not looking forward to the Ohtani kabuto SSP prices next year. You know it's going to happen and people are going to trip over themselves to throw money at it.
