I got my 3 blasters in from Target. A Chrome in each, one had a mini and one had a mini and a relic, nobody of note for the parallels but can't really complain. I was surprised to find the mini in a pack after pulling the relic. I did get a Tatis aqua and I'm a Padres fan, so nice to get that one.

Almost makes me want to order another 3 lol, but probably should just hold off and buy anything I want.

They were actually sold out earlier today. I set the notification to have it let me know when it restocked again.

With that said, there's still a lot of this stuff so we'll see some nice/long restocks.

Did anyone get their notification for the Fanatics drop? I went for 2. Assume I didn't get any. I heard some people got their notification right after the drop ended..

So far the blasters look much better than the hobby box. It's comical people are trying to sell hobby for $200.

I can't remember what product drop it was last year but I got in one that I didn't win, the same product was on the website a day later after the drop was over lol. Thankfully I didn't win I guess.

I wouldn't get caught up on what gets posted.....most only post their 'hits', not the duds. 95% of retail boxes are not great, (but fun to open) imo.

There was a funny quote posted on BO years ago that I still think rings true:

"Friends don't let friends buy retail'...lol

If I had to guess, Fanatics probably just hits approve on any max drop orders until they are out of the available stock. There's no lottery, they just go down the list of max orders (8 boxes in this situation) in chronological order starting with who entered the drop first.

I donno, I opened 3 packs out of a hobby today and got a Skenes Black Refractor and an Andy Pages Image Variation.

Finally finished opening 4 hobby cases. Overall, it felt disappointing and there were some issues with collation (not on the base or inserts, which were fine). I think the value is there right now if you bought at the right price though.

1. Possible Autograph Collation Problems

It felt like Topps may have screwed up how they loaded autos into cases, making certain cases awesome and others terrible. My first case, which was great, had 7 autos--Skenes (redemption), Palencia (red ink), Rafaela, Mauricio, Guidry, Albies & Wendzel. 6 of the 7 autos were at least decent (Palencia isn't a good name, but at least it was a red ink).

After Case 1, I felt fairly certain I had at least a few more good autos left in 3 more cases, but it turns out I only had 1 (Carlton Color Reverse auto). 23 autos in my last 3 cases:

Steve Carlton, Bill Madlock, Parker Meadows, Cam Eden, Hunter Goodman, Jonny Deluca, Drew Millas, Jackson Rutledge, Connor Kaiser, Landon Knack (x2), Davis Schneider, Dominic Canzone, Forrest Wall, Tristan Gray, Yoendrys Gomez, Mason McCoy, Jose Fermin, Connor Phillips, Nick Loftin, Jared Triolo, Justin Foscue & Yariel Rodriguez.

I can't imagine you could do any worse than that on autos. 2 Cases without even a quasi-good auto in them. From an autograph collector's perspective, this was by far the most disappointing aspect of the rip.

2. 1975 Originals Collation Problems

Topps definitely had some kind of problem on collating the 1975 Originals. Here are the ones I got:

458 - Ross Grimsley (x2)
460 - NL Championships Game 1
462 - 1974 World Series Game 2
463 - 1974 World Series Game 3 (x2)
465 - 1974 World Series Game 5 (x2)
467 - Ed Halicki
468 - Bobby Mitchell (x2)
537 - Tommy Harper
538 - Duffy Dyer (x3)

Pretty crazy how many duplicates I hit and how the numbers lined up so closely. Unless Topps was just packing a few Originals over and over, collation had to have been messed up.

3. Better Non-Auto Hits:

Minis: 39 total, best being Langford & Imanaga

Throwback: 1 - Luis Rengifo

Color Swap: 5 total (Yamamoto, Jung Hoo Lee, Yuki Matsui & Brenton Doyle (x2)

Missing Signature: 2 total (Yamamoto & Jung Hoo Lee)

Black & White: 6 total (no one of note)

Image Variation: 25 total (Holliday & Langford)

Black Border: 7 total (no one of note)

Aqua: Merrill & Chourio

Dark Blue: Imanaga, Merrill, Holliday (x2), Langford, Skenes, Yamamoto & Chourio

White Border: Langford (x2) & Holliday

Chrome /699: Langford & Chourio

Silver Chrome /250: Chourio

Black Chrome /75: 33 total (Manzardo, Smith-Shawver, David Hamilton, Loperfido were best)

Gold Chrome /5: 4 total (Max Kepler, Jose Rodriguez, Carlos Esteves & Joey Wiemer)

Purple Hot Box: best were Colt Keith Quad, Rafaela, Trout (x2), Lawrence Butler, Mantle & Aaron MVP, Parker Meadows (x2), Schanuel)

4. Quality Control:

QC was OK. There were some scratches on some chrome. One of the cases had a good number of off-center base cards. The dark blues and aquas all look pretty great from a quick glance.

At $25 a blaster vs $200+ for hobby, along with the new and more plentiful "hits" , it really does seem that blasters are the way to go this time.

Of course hobby at MSRP is a no brainer over blasters, as always.

This tells you how much the product has changed over the past ten years....only three of those 30 names would even have been on the auto checklist pre-Judgemania (i.e. 2017), when rookies were very rarely seen in Heritage auto checklists.

Say what you will but at MSRP, I’d say it’s close between blasters and hobby boxes. With hobby at $200+, easy choice.

3-4 blaster boxes < 1 hobby
7-8 blaster boxes > 1 Hobby (by far)

You can still get blasters for $25 a pop, while hobby boxes can be found for $180(appear to be going down). IMO the hobby boxes will fall down to earth over the next couple of weeks.

If this dropped from 219.99 to 119.99. I still would not be overly excited about it

That’s how absurdly out of whack this price is

I think this is intentional, this has always been the case across all topps products, where you will find 1 cases out of the blue will be loaded.

Opened 1 Hobby Box I bought for $128 (including tax and shipping).

Pretty nice ! Throwbacks are 1 in 9517 hobby packs (1 in 397 boxes, or 1 in about 33 cases.

Haven't been keeping track of sales. Are we at the race to the bottom?

Boxes sold on eBay seem to be selling a little under $200.

The minis are moving on eBay. The set collectors are out in full force.
I can see the rookies/popular players going up like the heritage mini set.

Example: mike trout sp mini from heritage mini set goes for $300+.
That PR was really short and idk the PR for the HN minis. It's somewhere on this forum.

The SP were 330 or somewhere around there.

It’s definitely going to be hard to complete this part of the set.

Opened 3 boxes from Topps, and most (all?) of my chromes had vertical roller scratches. Be careful if you’re buying these.
