Depends who you consider to be the "market".

Collectors will be done with the product within a month of release....those who are building will have finished doing so, and those who are buying complete sets will also have done so.

After that, all that's left is the gamblers, and they very well may have moved on to the next product....it really depends on Ohtani, his performance on the field, and how scarce his cards are within the product.

question is who actually is paying the crazy prices for boxes and cases. I wouldn't pay more then $70 for a box of heritage just not worth it, but there are people that are buying at the current prices so why should they stop raising it if it keeps selling out.

I'm sitting out this year. I didn't get in at a decent price, and there's no way I'm paying $100+ ...just not worth it imo.

Heritage is not a good buy at $100 a box

it never used to be before 2017. but things are evolving. Rookies are in H like never before and the collectibility of the H rookie card is on the rise big time.

And master sets that do not include Ohtani are going for $450.00 now. The listing clearly states it only includes 401-500, no SPs besides that. Head scratcher.

2017 Low # is STILL not a good rip at $100 a box

I disagree - cases at that price are a good rip assuming normal pulls across multiple cases (aka judge). I'd have broken more had i had the time.

agree to disagree, the beauty of the hobby lol

better off just buying a 10 Judge Auto then trying for one in a case

Did you push little kids out of the way to get to it? I find that pushing little kids out of the way brings extra mojo.

Agreed.

Master sets should cost no more than $250-300....roughly $20 for 1-400, roughly $200 for the 100 SP's, and maybe another $20-30 for the Then & Now, Flashback, and New Age Performers insert sets.

Do you realize if a person sold $20 for a base set after fees and shipping they'd get $5? Your insert price is based on years ago when they flowed freely from packs. And $200 for 100 COMMON SPs is accurate, but there will be a lot of stars in there. Master sets have gone for $350 without any major rookie hype for years. This year we have postal rate hikes in play too. Not sure why you think they "should" go for $100 less this year than in years past.

My point was simply that there is no reason for them to be $100 higher when there's no Ohtani in them.

If you are buying in person, sure.

But not with shipping costs plus paypal and ebay fees. Master sets should be priced higher on eBay. I'd agree with those numbers at a card show or something. I'd also think the SP's will be going for much higher than $2 a pop, history shows they will beat that price for some time, especially for the top guys.

that's true but it's also true of buying any sealed product with a potential big hitter. i actually think H is the only product out there that now combines both the potential big ticket hit with the labor of sorting/collecting/working that yields nice money back. Maybe that's why cases are so in demand the last two years more so than in years past.

Nailed it. Heritage appeals to both the collecting and gambling parts of the hobby. Plenty for everyone in these cases.

very true. also helps that there seem to be less redemptions the last few releases, adding longevity to ripping

Base sets (1-400) are going for around $30 on EBay (I was off on that)...
2017 SP's average about $2 each on COMC
2017 Inserts average well under $1 on COMC

So.....$30 for the base set + roughly $200 for the SP's + roughly $50 for the 75 cards in the four insert sets (Then & Now, Baseball Flashbacks, News Flashbacks, New Age Performers = $280

Perhaps a little higher or a little lower depending on how and when you buy....but you should be able to do the set for $300-325 max.....
