I sent in 5 BGS 9.5 and they where all sub 9.5 and higher. Only one came back a PSA 10. Granted none of them were Vlad but it was various sports and athletes. I was a little disappointed for sure.

Gotta crack 'em or say min 9 so that PSA will crack them. It's their ass on the line if they crack it and can't give it a 10, so they're super stingy.

FYI: PSA no longer offers the crossover service

If you’re looking for base singles that are still cheap… I’ve long been an advocate of Bowman Sterling.

There’s a reason why the Trout ‘11 Sterling has always been strong, and other rookies like the ‘12 Harper have had their day—they’re super rare. And from what I can tell, the ‘19 base set has a print run of around 2,500. That’s approaching Sapphire territory.

Maybe I’m living in the past a bit, as the card landscape has changed in the past decade, and everyone seems to want flagship or flagship-related cards. But I just don’t think you can go wrong with such a great-looking and rare card.

Bowman Sterling for sure. Shiny, borders, and about 1/100th the print run of Topps (sans the NNO)

Sure. Maybe more like 1,100. But the point is that Sapphire and Sterling are both in the low four-digits, opposed to 80k or 100k or 200k (or whatever S1 and S2 cards are, with the factory sets n’ such).

Crossover from BGS to PSA is unpredictable. Some have sent true gem+ and they didn't cross, some have sent min gem and they did cross. I just recently sent two Soto Bowman's Best autos, both BGS 9.5, and the one that did cross to a PSA-10 had a '10' surface grade, the one that didn't cross had a '9.5' surface grade. Surface is the hardest thing to judge through the holder & inner sleeve, so that's the one I would want as a 10, with all others 9.5 (or 10) to have a good chance.

I believe crossover service is still suspended. It can be done (rather could be done) at any service level before, so whether it was a $50 card or $500 card, you could pay the same price as the grading fee for the declared value of your card and submit as a crossover. You set the min grade and they only break it out of the holder if it meets that grade.

My thread in the Grading forum:
https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1451439

(since both had '9' auto grades, that was my main motivation to cross)

Both are solid cards. I love the 582 because most are still trapped in sealed sets and the Cyber was only available for one weekend and has a PR of 1,000 if I’m not mistaken.

I'm ripping two boxes later today. It's funny, I was looking at the '19 Sterling page on BBCPedia and wondering why I had never seen Sterling cards for Acuna/Soto/Ohtani/etc. and I learned 2019 was the first year they made Sterling in, I think, 5 years. Definitely a nice product. Already have this guy so feeling good and bringing that sweet juju into the rip.

Ooh, that’s a nice one. I want to say a refractor PSA 10 sold the other day for around $400. I’m selling a gold 10 right now—hoping for big things.

Yeah, they discontinued Sterling after ‘14. Before that year, I always thought it was a great-looking product, but ‘14 went off the rails, design-wise. I don’t know if that had anything to do with its hiatus, but it has definitely come back stronger than when it left.

Good luck on the rip!

Wow. Just to show you how far prices have fallen since offseason, a refractor PSA 10 sold for $1,000 at one point. I paid $199 so I'm still good but dayum.

Are you sure? A raw black atomic sold for $500 before the season started. And I don’t remember any regular refractors or sparkles exceeding expectations.

Normally, I would say I'm 99% sure but you obviously have me questioning the nature of my reality. I remember it because I thought I would have to throw mine up soon if it kept climbing. I certainly remember PSA 10s selling in the $750 range. I think at the height of Vlandoria lots of cards were getting priced at Tatis level and some sold.

I'm wondering how many are out there. The 2019 factory sets were extremely popular for as long as they were available. I think Topps sold out entirely of their inventory, which I'm willing to bet isn't a yearly norm.

I remember in the factory set thread people were buying batches by the hundred and ripping for the Tatis cards. There could be a monstrous stash of raw Vlad out there just waiting to sit at PSA for 12-14 months.

I see a $700 fixed price sold for $450 8 days ago. Not seeing any others sell for close to $1000: https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/market-price-research

Another sold for $370 before that.

Yeah for sure. I think it’s pretty underpriced though, might not matter much if there’s a bunch more out there. There was just a PSA 9 on eBay for less than 30 bucks. Seems relatively low for a card with only 237 PSA graded

I like the look of the Sterling card, I think it’s one of the nicest. I wish I would have bought some Autos early on, but it didn’t seem like it was very popular. I’ll have to pick up a couple base for the PC I guess

Yeah that’s still a great option. It’s probably 4-5x more expensive than the All Star parallel though. Still a value play for sure
