Guy is at or near the lead for every Triple Crown stat at 22 years old. Hitting comes in waves for everyone, one series isn’t even a ripple.

Baseball is really hard. If a bad series for a player becomes a 3-12 stretch, than he has entered elite territory.

this is why using small sample sizes provide weak arguments in baseball:

boston series: 15 at bats

-2 k's
-3 bb
-9 hits
-4 home runs

yet, this board continues to panic post when Vlad goes into a 12 at bat swoon. baseball is hard. we should all know this. there are swings and valleys to the season. right now Vlad is minimizing those valleys with a much improved approach compared to last year but to expect xbox numbers from baseball players is what this board seems to expect.

watching vlad hit over the years as a Jays fan has been nothing short of remarkable. there is nothing in his approach today that has me thinking he's due to regress back to the 2020 version. not a single thing.

he can go 0 for the next 33 at bats and still have a .300 batting average. he'll have to go 0-73 to hit .262 which is what he posted in 2020. maybe i'm no smarter than the average fan, but i'm willing to bet Vlad doesn't go into such slumps this year.

then again, i've amassed a modest stash of Vlads for pennies on the dollar so maybe i'm immune to the swings of daily boxscore watching. the last 2016 Bowman paper sold locally for $20 and cost me a buck twenty-five so i'm cool even if he goes 0-73 hobby-wise. as a Jays fan? i'd be freaking out. lol
