25 games left until the All-Star break. That will put the Jays having played 88 games, so a bit over halfway. There will be a lot of noise being made for Vladdy if he is still in the triple crown position at that time

Big mail day, for me! Also, interested in the Vladdy vets thoughts on ‘19 Bowman Chrome ref/parallels. They look great and they’re very low pop, but they’re still RELATIVELY cheap for some reason.

It doesn’t appear that the product itself is unliked. Tatis’ parallels go for big bucks.

Just this month, Gold /50s of Tatis and Vlad sold within a day of each other…Vladdy went for $868 and Tatis went for over 5x that at $4500. Same story with the regular refractors /499 - Tatis $1900 vs. Vlad $510.

That puts the Tatis premium to Vlad on BC parallels at between 3.7x and 5.1x. If we look at Topps Chrome refractors, the spread between Tatis and Vlad has shrunk to between 1.5x and 2x.

Is it as simple as Vladdy’s BC stuff is just “cheap”? Or is there some variable I’m missing here that explains the disparity?

BC is not what it used to be. i think that all changed when they changed it to its current format, which is Hobby only and a really small checklist

The variable you're missing is that Tatis' BC rookie is his best picture and vertical unlike S2.

Something to look for in future games.....

A point that hasn't been touched on much is on Saturday he actually stole 2nd AND was also caught stealing 2nd later in the game. Although....I'm certain he was safe, but video wasn't enough to overturn the call on the field.

If he keeps on hitting HR's and doubles or when you hit a single, either Bichette or Semien are also on 2nd base, it gets very hard to attempt SB's.

But...with his increase in speed, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him steal 20ish bases in future years.

His sprint speed is barely above league average this season(55th percentile). Good luck if he even gets to 20 stolen bases total in the next 5 years

THIS has been on my mind. He’s been hitting better than anyone WITH sticky stuff on the ball to increase spin rate. Now that MLB has cracked down on it, will Vlads number actually get even BETTER? This Boston series started right as the crackdown started and Boston’s pitching seems to have gone from day to night because of it.

I guess you are not expecting him to continue to work on his physique & his fitness in the upcoming off-seasons. I also feel you may be discounting his drive to not be overshadowed by his buddies Acuna & Tatis.

I’m not surprised.

It’s always been fun. It’s even more fun now and with spin rates mysteriously dropping (and the usual contrarians expressing their love for crow), there may yet be more room for festivities.

Personally, I certainly wouldn’t bank on a proliferation of stolen bags. I think that’s more Tatis and Acuna territory. I’m not concerned at all about whether he swipes bags or not though.

I just want him to stay locked in and keep his same approach at the plate. He has power to spare so he doesn’t have to sell out for the big fly, hits for power to all fields, insane exit velo, hits for power AND average. He’s simply dangerous at the plate.

Most importantly, he doesn’t have glaring holes in his approach that pitchers can exploit. He doesn’t have to get lucky and hope pitchers make mistakes. I would definitely bank on a proliferation of walks if he keeps destroying the ball like this however.
