Which one? (The toploaded one is #02/56 = jersey #)

So does that mean you want to sell the un-toploaded one?

Those Devers sales seem extremely low IMO.

I like the black parallels. I pick some up every year. Sometimes I guess right on a card or get lucky. Others I like the action image of the card. Wish I was in on them when Trout's came out.

Sometimes a guy catches fire so it makes sense to sell. Yelich was a good example. I always liked him, but didn't expect he would go off with the Brewers like he did.

Only if you are a pumping flipper would they seem too low… anyone else would agree they were too much $$, but I’m a hopeless hoarder of Devers, so had to have them even though they were expensive

I was referring to the black parallels. No clue on the clear etc. But for the price of two hobby boxes, you were able to purchase several Devers blacks?

All right Fellas - we all know the news about Fanatics and no more Topps. No more Topps, means no more blacks. The run will end in 2025.

Obviously this stings, but what happens to the brand recognition of Topps Black? Does this make them more desirable. If history repeats, will Topps Black be the new Precious Metal Gem?

As far as I'm concerned, Topps Black and Bowman Chrome Gold Refractors are legacy parallels with long established credentials throughout their respective brands. I don't see a brand switch diminishing their popularity over time. I wouldn't be surprised to see Fanatics purchase Topps and continue on with the Topps name. There's too much brand recognition under the umbrella of Topps for Fanatics not to try and incorporate them under their veil.

Thank goodness someone said it. Now I don't have to wade through that big thread.

love black parallels and glad to see this thread exists. i've been eyeing a 2016 chrome black refractor, would anyone happen to know the PR of these? pop report doesn't tell a whole lot other than it is low. is it safe to assume it's similar to when they were numbered?

Those were hot box exclusives (one hot box per case). I recall someone doing an estimate around release and it was like 275-300 copies per card I think

*The Bumgarner was mislabeled by PSA (shocked face). I am probably going to crack it out anyways.

Default The M&M boys!

A long time reader of this thread while I hunted for the right Topps black card of my favorite players like Griffey, Greinke, Mauer Springer and Montero, I finally tracked it down! Here's my contribution. Card #680 features the M&M boys, Mauer and Morneau on their first Topps black card from the inaugural '03 set. Better yet this one is the last one made and numbered 52/52!

Beautiful card! I don’t think I’ve even seen a photo of that one before. Great find!

Thank you!

Oddly enough although I knew of the card’s existence this was also the first time I had seen a copy as well when I saw it for sale. For me it kind of exists within a Twilight Zone of Joe’s cards. His rookies are from sets in 2002 while his first cards as a big leaguer are from 2004, yet this one is from 2003 when he was still a prospect but featured in Topps flagship of that year. Also, how many times do these dual draft picks or prospect cards feature two legends from one team? More often than not both guys featured don’t end up panning out, at best maybe one player has a solid career. So that’s pretty unique!

Agreed! Possibly only outdone by the Ichiro/Pujols 01 card but that before parallels aside from the Topps gold and the chrome refractor. Imagine a black parallel of that bad boy!

This Mauer / morneau is a fantastic cards fha is for sharing!
