What I find nuts is that the top non-variation cards in 2018 Topps Update are..

1. Juan Soto US300 - only cause he has just one flagship RC
2. Ohtani US1
3. Acuna US250
4. US153 Ohtani Ichiro
5. US158 Ohtani/Trout/Upton

Well my 2017 Bowman Mega BGS 9.5 -> PSA 10 crossover was a success. I just grabbed by biggest Ohtani card (by kind of a lot), curious if the BO brain trust thinks it's worth trying for a PSA 9 or not.

Very niceeeee. That was the one on alt right?

I thought about buying it and crossing it, but I ultimately did not because 1) The value on that card is over $5K and will be a $600 grading fee, 2) The centering standard for a PSA 9 is 60/40 to 65/35 and it's really on the latter border, 3) The auto threw me off - how did that hook in the middle get there? I'm not saying there's something ominous that occurred, but how??

But forget all that, it's a stunning card and a centerpiece. I am a little jealous. Congratulations!!

yea, that card is going to get eyes on it for a crossover. i would crack if trying to get it into a PSA slab

Thanks...yeah, freaking Alt...what a nightmare, never again...probably, haha. And good eyes, I had the same question about the auto but after staring at it it looks (to me) like like it's part of the loop at the bottom, if you follow the line up it seems like it lines up. Anyway that's my theory...

Yeah, that's what I had guessed too, but the there is no path and just a clean hook. I guess it's possible he lifted the pen between that stroke?

Anyway, it's a beauty. You won't even care long term

And yeah, alt is a nightmare. Take forever to transfer funds and they won't even let you pay for their overpriced shipping with credit card - have to wait for a brand new ACH transfer lol.

Yeah, it's so unnecessarily complicated. You can pay for BINs with a credit card, but if you make an offer and they accept, you can't. FFS.

I recently picked up a raw Topps #700 rainbow for $69. Last night I was looking to pick another one up and max bid $150. I did not win the auction. Crazy. The window to buy Ohtani for relatively cheap is over

I did pick up an Archives ‘Swinging’ SP that I’ve been after since I regretted selling the one I pulled. Got the PSA 9 for almost the same price I sold my raw one for back in 2021.
