To me using a camera is easier. I am like you prefer doing everything on a laptop. As far as the phone being a game changer about the only time I use mine is when I find a bunch of books to scan other than that I typically just go with my gut unless something very unique turns up.

It's doable without a smart phone, but a smart phone makes things so much easier...especially when sourcing new inventory. Your smartphone is like a handheld universal price guide. You just want to make sure that you educate yourself on the proper way of looking up prices.

I know everybody has their own system for listing that works for them, but I have developed what I consider a pretty quick one and a smartphone is a big part of it. I use the flickr app to take pics of all of my merchandise that I'm going to list. Then I go to my computer and log in to my flickr account. I save all of the pictures for each item in their own individual folders so they're easier to find (ie: I select all the pics for a particular shirt, hit the download button, and it creates a new folder in my downloads containing just the pics for that shirt) By the time I'm done, I have all of the pics for each item I'm going to list all separated into their own folders. Then I start Listing. It's the worst part of this business, but you have to do it.

I use my iPhone non-stop at the stores looking up brands, UPCs, etc.

Listing wise, I take pictures with my iPhone, upload them via Dropbox App on my phone, download them on my computer, and then either list straight or plug in pictures into drafts. Works pretty fast for me.

With the Pixel2, there is no uploading... everything is auto-pushed to my cloud...so I can then go to desktop and do eBay listings there as opposed to mobile.

When I am taking photos, I typically find a similar listing on eBay on my phone app and click " sell similar" then save it as a draft w/o making any changes...then when I go to list, I go to drafts, and make my edit, change title, add photos, etc...

I take photos on my phone and have them auto upload to google photos then download to my laptop. Having a smartphone is a must have to be able to look up items on the spot. Plus the cameras on smartphones are so good now. I don't do any social media and don't plan on doing it. I keep track of everything on an excel spreadsheet and scan my receipts on my phone using an app.

You all should scan receipts using Receipt Pal or Receipt Hog...both earn you points for each receipt that you can use for Amazon/Target type gift cards...

Damn, I was gonna post referral links, but neither offer referral bonus ...still worth looking into if you are a receipt scanner

Went to an estate sale this morning. Bought a nice likely PC item. May sell it have not decided yet. But it is a WW1 Spiked German Infantry helmet. Paid 60 for it and could get 150 to 300 for it, but would make a nice conversation piece in the house as well.

I signed up for that yesterday. How you liking it? I've only intregated PayPal and eBay and it seems way off. But I might be missing something.

If it's voluntary, I don't see an issue with it.

If they force it on us, it'll be time to start looking for a different platform.

Just scored 16 pairs of CrossFit trunks from multiple brands like Kill Cliff, Redline, 2pood, and Forged.

These things resell so easy. Be on the lookout.

They've tried me a few times. They even called once and I told them it was the most stupidest f'in snit they have done since lowering my eBay bucks and never giving me a sellers promotion and hung up the phone.

My sales have dropped in half since then lol tho I haven't listed anything new either so there's that.

For those of you who know about artwork...

I purchased two prints today at an estate sale. They were by an artist named Paul Calle. One of them is called "They Call Me Matthew", and is signed and numbered /950.

The other is called "Prayer to the Great Mystery" (Native American art). It is signed by the artist, but not numbered. In the bottom left corner it is marked in pencil p/p. I assume this means printer's proof. Any idea on value? There is a numbered one on ebay now for $200, but it is not a printer's proof. I know next to nothing about art, but I paid $5, so I'm pretty sure I did ok.

Yeah, not cool. How do they figure out one of a kind items or items that have never or rarely get sold on Ebay? Or people creating faux auctions to drive "market value" down?

Just a little head up, Family Dollar stores are getting in Hot Wheels boxes that contain the 50th anniversary black and gold cars The chase in that set is the Gold Camaro. These are selling for around 30. to 50 each right now I found 5 yesterday. I am sure the price will start to fall more(was 180 around Christmas) but still a good buy for 1.25.
