Ok, if we are going to talk relief pitchers, where does Papi's WAR rank for DH's for a fair comparison.

Disagree with Papi getting in but do not bring the WAR argument to the table for a DH/Cement footed first baseman. It’s a trash argument.

Get over it.
False positive… do you still believe in the tooth fairy?

It’s not incorrect, he has a failed test and is the only player voted in with a failed test. Sure it could be a false positive but it also could have been an actual failed test. Bonds has zero failed tests and is a significantly better ball player then Ortiz.

So second highest. And I'll take the leader in HR's, RBI's, along with the rings and postseason numbers any day.

I don’t think anyone thinks Ortiz isn’t a HOFer but him getting in over Bonds is a joke. Bonds is a significantly better ball player

You also have to believe he is the only player to have discovered a magic elixir that's not steroids that will turn around your career at age 34 and help you go on to be a dominant player at age 40. Oh that's right, it was just his work ethic lol.

Bottom line if you want to be into the hall, suck up to the media.

I was sure Bonds and Clemens were in, but I quit at the $10k mark on the Tiffany Bonds/Clemens PSA 10 rookies. Maybe I can snag one for a discount now.

Congrats to Ortiz

Congrats to Schilling for finally being away from the writers

Congrats to Schilling, Bonds, Clemens, and Sosa for entering the only phase of the Hall of Fame process where they stand a chance: an eventual Vets committee election

Congrats to Hunter, Beuhlre, Abreau and a few others for surviving this overloaded ballot to start getting a real chance to grow next year

Congrats to the writers for officially cementing your hypocrisy and creating yet another era our elite media will be looked back on and laughed at

And a damn shame goes out to Joe Nathan, but most egregiously to Tim Hudson. When only 3% of voters choose Tim Hudson, your electorate sucks. Hudson joins a growing list of players who will one day make the Hall of Fame, maybe after death when it's too late to enjoy it - to the growing befuddlement of future baseball fans of how he ever fell off a ballot.

Seriously, it's time for a Hall of Fame test for writers. Something that proves they actually understand history and stats and have a clue about perspective. There are 10-15 members of this ballot that can look at the current players that are enshrined and rightfully wonder why they didn't get more support.

Baseball gets more embarrassing by the day

And I’m a casual fan. Fully admit

All of us (casual fans) don’t give two craps if Bonds and Clemens make it if Ortiz makes it

Literally no one cares except for hardcore (which is fine) baseball folks

I’m not wrong

No he doesn’t.

Thats like saying Griffey Jr shouldnt be in the HOF since his WAR is about half of Babe Ruth's.

It's almost like all of these people with their strong opinions on who should and shouldn't be in the HoF don't actually understand the stated mission of the HoF, which is not "to reward 'clean' play" but rather, and this is a direct quote, "to preserve the sport's history, honor excellence within the game and make a connection between the generations of people who enjoy baseball."

Point being, WHO CARES if someone used steroids? Does that make them no longer a part of the sport's history? Does that mean they weren't excellent? Does that mean that the "generations of people who enjoy baseball" didn't enjoy watching them? Or wouldn't want to know about them in the future?

It isn't called the Hall of Clean, or even the Hall of Indisputably Best Players. Maybe there's a reason for that.

For those saying Bonds/Clemens should be in: You better also be yelling for A-Rod to get in.

Just booked my flight and lodging for HoF weekend. Haven't been to one before, but I'll never have the chance to see a childhood hero go in again. Once in a lifetime opportunity, so happy I can do it this year.

And how many years did it take Edgar with no issues about possible PED use to get in?

I'm glad Ortiz is in. But arguing the DH position against only the DH position is silly. It's punishing players who weren't too terrible to put on a glove. DH's need to be so good they have to overcome the complete lack of value they bring to half the game. Ortiz was that good.

During his career, Hudson actually led mlb in Wins. A bit surprising he got zero consideration.
