Most of us did. No shame in that. I sold a ton in February as I was watching things fall apart overseas. Escalated in March and stopped buying completely. Then first week of April began buying heavily as it looked like the opposite was happening. Haven't stopped since then. Just have to know when you're wrong, and be willing to go a different direction when needed.

Haven't noticed much of a spike in his chrome refractor stuff.

I mean nothing makes sense nowadays if you’re going to go back and compare it from years ago. It’s been gaining since in reaction to the 86 Fleer.

Ouch - stings.

Early last year as Last Dance was gearing up I decided to get in on the fun and bought all of these https://flic.kr/s/aHsmMmYMFi

I first got all of his Hoops base cards and associated All Star cards in PSA 10 due to price point. Makes for a nice mini MJ PC. Most expensive Hoops PSA 10 was $53 bucks.

I then got my 2 MJ RCs PSA 4 and BGS 7.5.

Thanks

I can't sit here and take full credit. TBP pointed me in the right direction and after many questions and discussions, I ended up getting the 2 rookies. We share same passion for centering so I was very happy and content with purchases he assisted me with. We must of seen 100+ cards in span of a week to land on these two. So many listed but centering was not ideal on many for the price point i was looking at.

re: #59 1/1/2021 "the beginning of the ascent"

the 1st telltale sign was a psa 10 sold by heritage in mid-December for 27k
just about TRIPLE the previous high.
now, it was only one data point, but a real good one.

2nd telltale sign was from may 2020 through dec 2020 sales across all grades
were basically FLAT.

3rd telltale sign was the OBVIOUS upward trajectory of the #57 from
sept 2020 through jan 2020, AND then the sticker explosion in dec 2020.

in vintage baseball, there's "always" been a percentage correlation between
the rookie card and the 2nd year card of a player.

somewhere between (approx.) 8-12% for similar grades.

throw in the fact the entire set, including # 59 had a lower print run, and, ....

here we are. it HAD to go up. b/c of the affordable price point, as ive stated before, it really reminds me of the FUN of collecting.

I LOVE the #59 with REALLY GOOD l/r centering. I can absolutely live with
the T/B being off.

The day I've been waiting for for years!

I've been looking for a PSA 4 (due to my budget), but hadn't found one that fit my needs until recently. It looks pretty good for a 4, although there is a crease you may not be able to see. What are your thoughts? Quick question regarding the last photo - is the white in the upper left hand corner a sign of "frosting"/breaking the case? I don't think so but I just want to be sure because this was such a big purchase for me. Thanks everyone!

Thanks all! Does everything look legit? I haven't seen a case with a hologrammed lettering on the back, but no PSA hologram on the front. Just want to be 100% sure. Thanks!

It looks a lot rougher than the 4 pictured directly above it, but I'm far from an expert

your point is well taken. .....from the guy who was nearly wiped out from
the real estate bubble.

I'm an optimist by nature, I hope mj cards increase "smoothly".

his cards are now in SO MANY different hands, even if they "pull back",
I'm NOT selling. and I think a lot of people feel like I do.

if mantle can hit 5.2 MILLION......cards have indeed arrived in the
mainstream, who knows what's possible ?

I hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Can I afford to not sell in a peaking market and risk holding my cards thru a crash? for me the answer is yes, so I can stomach holding come hell or high water. And of course one can move things gradually over time to lock in some profits in the peaking market and hedge... but I tend to buy and hold longterm on most things, that's just how I prefer to do things.
