They didn't drop due to pump and dump, they dropped due to NBA market being down as a whole back in Sept-Nov. The only NBA cards that didn't lose 40% to 60% of its value at that time were Jordan/Lebron/Kobe autos. Pump and dump would mean the Kobe Topps card by itself were targeted and had massive spikes then drops. But in reality it happened to just about every basketball card. Besides isn't it pretty ridiculous to pump and dump the same card for a 2nd time within 5 months lol.

It goes without question we will see a correction. The Kobe markets are red hot this isn't a pump and dump this is an incredible amount of new blood, new eyes and new money into the card market. They also won't stay this red hot indefinitely.

What will likely happen is the super hot cards like Topps 96 will cool down, 20%... 30%... maybe more but then come back up. Waves of demand will come and go but its safe to say the most blue chip holds in all of sports cards are Kobe, mj and Lebron.

Yeah I looked at that too...checked 130point and sure enough not a best offer sale...just click and purchase...the jump in price on the PSA 9's is just...ugh. It's like the panic alarm went full force as soon as that PSA 10 sold for 54k, the reaction has been nuts.

I was thrilled to see the PSA 7 that ended last night didn't go over the $2k threshold at auction. As much as I want to FOMO buy in (I don't own this card yet) I should really wait it out some, but too worried it's going to soon leave our galaxy...

Was at a thrift store today that occasionally has cards and stumbled across 2 Kobe 1997-1998 2nd year cards for $10 each. I don't collect basketball, but figured it couldn't hurt to pick them up for $20. I just did a quick eBay search and I can't believe how much these go for in PSA 10s and 9s. Mine won't gem, but definitely have a shot at a 9 or 8. Definitely one of my best thrift store finds I've had!

Kobe collectors thoughts on 97 metal Universe? Seems to be heating up right now wish I had a gem! To me this card is up there with 08 topps/chrome as an all time iconic basketball card image. With just how condition sensitive it is I personally see it being one of the next big pops.

I listed a 2005 Kobe Topps Chrome PSA 10 last night for $50 more than previous one was sold for last week and it got snatched up in under 2 mins

Can’t stress enough folks don’t be afraid to take some profits in this market. The kind of $ we are talking is bigger than the collector vs flipper debate. I certainly wouldn’t sell everything but some of these rapid, extreme jumps that could turn into $10,000 plus in your hands... take the $!!

I just bought one today (Card # 81) - I'm not fully up to speed on analyzing condition for this set, but I tried to scan through listings that looked decent and went for it. Very cool looking card, going to keep an eye on them. I'll own the Shaq/Jordan/Kobe base for this and be happy.

Christ!!! Well obviously we will likely have another dip sometimes in the future like last Sept thru Nov. The question is what will be the new floor now? Last time it peaked at $6k and bottomed at $2.5k

Going to guess the next $10K PSA card that's been overlooked for so long will be his 96 Hoops Rookies Gold Embossed foil. Condition sensitive and it's uhm, gold lol.
