At this rate, over 500,000 will die in 2020 and that's WITH social distancing.

Yeah, go ahead and open up everything, seems like a swell idea.

500,000 based on what? How did you come up with this number?

To give proper credit, Allstate was the first company to offer any sort of refund - prior to any other companies or any state involvement.

Good info, thanks for the heads up!

I just checked mine and Travelers is doing a 15% credit on customer's April and May auto insurance premiums.

What are you talking about taking credit for reopening the economy? Do you live in a different country than I? Or are you doing that whataboutism thing?

This is what GEICO is doing (text came directly out of the email they sent me):

As part of GEICO's ongoing efforts to assist customers during this unprecedented time, we are announcing The GEICO Giveback which provides a 15 percent credit to all auto and motorcycle customers as policies come up for renewal, between April 8, 2020 and October 7, 2020. This credit will also apply to any new policies purchased during this period as part of our commitment to protecting the wellbeing of our customers.

Current customers can expect to see the credit when they renew. Customers do not need to take any action to receive this credit.

The credits are expected to average $150 per auto policy and $30 per motorcycle policy. With roughly 18 million auto policies and 1 million motorcycle policies in force, we are proudly providing a total benefit of approximately $2.5 billion to our customers.

They are behind a bunch of other insurance companies that did it a week plus ago.

Looks like Sweden's curve is flattening without extreme lockdowns, quarantines, shutdowns, etc in place. Kind of interesting.

Same reason he insisted putting his name on the checks. If you can't figure it out...I don't know what to tell you.

Stop comparing it to the flu.
There is nothing less educated on this thread than the constant comparisons to the flu.

And that’s saying a lot.

The only thing I have noticed between COVID and the flu is that flu numbers are "down" all of a sudden during this COVID outbreak, which makes me believe there is a large number of misdiagnosed cases of COVID when it is actually people who have the flu.

Someone might want to help him out with the whole peak day thing.

If your curious I just did the math today for every state.

Your state has a .07% infection rate.

Not death rate--- your infection rate could go up 14 times the current amount and STILL not be at 1 full percent.

Think about that.

Uhhhh ohhh. Cuomo just said they're going to start reporting deaths a little differently based on requirements from the CDC.

In addition to COVID-19 positives that pass away, they will be added "probable" deaths to the count from people who were not positive but likely had the virus based on symptoms when passing away. If other states follow this lead, we just might get to six figures before end of June.

This is so stupid to do. If we are going to do this, why not just make the assumption that most Americans have already had COVID and just open everything up. I mean, if we are just assuming people died from COVID, but weren't positive for it (meaning they didn't have it), why can't we just make other stupid assumptions?

This is just a new way to scare people and keep us inside longer because the numbers will explode with the "probables".

PA has been following the CDC guidelines for deaths and doing it that way for a while now. A local coroner was pissed about it, had like 3 corona deaths but only 1 tested positive before death.

LOL, the rhetoric is changing. The momentum for a May reopen was getting to be too much.

And note---what should be a big fall off day.... NY just hit for only 30 deaths less then yesterday or about 150 less then Sunday/Monday.

I'm not surprised, it's just an awareness. We're projected to have 40 times less deaths than first thought in America. Is what we're doing really 40 times better than doing nothing? Of course not. We're still going to stores, restaurants, parks, etc, etc.

When we come back to normal, we'll be better aware of what to do.

Allows experts to say "see, I told you so" and allows politicians to make people stay at home longer by having a larger, "scarier" number of deaths. They are trying to manipulate the curve now once things started to look a little positive in some aspects. Its all turning into a game the politicians are playing to try and make their character and response look better.

Well since the numbers reflect only people who have tested positive, your hypothesis is wildly incorrect.
