I'm putting together sort of a refined Hall of Fame (yet not all are in the HOF) collection of all NBA Players (no ABA) who have scored 20,000 + career points.

There's only about 40 of 'em, and only 2 are deceased, with Wilt Chamberlain and Walt Bellamy both passed away, but all others still alive.

There's a few fringe players not in the HOF like Tom Chambers, but for the most part it's all remarkable players and somewhat easy and affordable (aside from autographs from Jordan and LeBron), most of which are under $100 per autograph and some under $20.

It's fun putting together meaningful cards of established players over chasing rookies who may not amount to anything or become soon forgotten after holding a hot hand for a few years like Shawn Kemp, Derrick Coleman, Glenn Robinson, Chris Webber, Anfernee Hardaway, Larry Johnson, Stephon Marbury, Antoine Walker, etc. only to fade into hobby obscurity and many retire with good but not HOF worthy stats.

Abdul Jabaar. He no longer considers himself as Lou Alcinder.

Unfortunately due to other financial obligations this may be the last HOF auto that I will buy for a while. I will still graph IP though.

Abdul-Jabbar was born Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Jr. He went by "Lew" not "Lou." I've seen him inscribe his jersey number, career point total, HOF induction, Championships and MVP totals but never seen him sign the first names Lew or Kareem.

Thank you for the input. I was just curious because I know that sometimes players will sign a card with different jersey #'s if they had multiple jersey #'s for different teams (example being Shaq, who signs "34" and "32"). However, not too many people change their names to something so different from what they were born with (again, an example being Cashus Clay to Muhammad Ali.) and I was unsure if they would still sign a card or piece of memorabilia that has them depicted under their former names.

Years ago I was a free signing with him and he wouldn't do anything except his name, no number, inscription, personalization, nothing.

He was in Atlanta last year for the final four he signed but his handler made him personalize everything. I got one made out to my buddy's dad Phil.

I'm not terribly into Basketball collecting, but I have been able to send to and get some Hall of Famers. I misplaced my Elgin Baylor from many years back. I have an Archibald, Sharman, Berry, Pettit, Parish, Schayes, Abdul-Jabbar, Howell, Cowens, Hawkins, Walker, Goodrich, Wilkens and Sloan off the top of my head. I got Dick Motta this year and I suppose he has a case for induction. I think my next Basketball Hall of Famers I'll be targeting are Issel and I could fork up the $15.00 fee for Thurmond. Now that I think of it, I have more Basketball in my collection than I originally thought, I have a handful of non-Hall of Famers, but the sport isn't to me what it used to be and of the four major sports, Basketball is by far the fewest I have in my collection.

Email UD the serial and have them look it up. There are alot of fakes with people using COAs from cheaper cards and selling them as buybacks etc.

Did you have the COA certificate?

Thanks for answering, no COA certificate, it will help to send to a certifying company?

holy *bleep* there are some sick cards in this thread!

In a related note, as a Mitch Richmond collector, I have found his autos to be a bit pricier since he became a newly minted HOFer. Coincidence? Or HOF auto collectors like some of you all driving MY PRICES UP haha. No worries, just glad he got the recognition he deserved, even if it causes me to miss an auto by a buck or two here or there

Preferred group breaks have not been kind to me so far, but I did hit a Dantley auto /25 this morning from one of them.
Great card, but nobody cares about his auto.

Agreed, Dantley gets very little hobby love (at least price-wise) for a more modern HOFer. Maybe something to with his attitude not appealing to a lot of fans? I'm not sure of the reason, but his sales prices certainly can be pretty surprisingly low.

I'm 99.9% sure that's fake.

Someone just grabbed a UD holo carefully off another UDA item and stuck it on the card, then signed Shaq & Wilt themselves -- being a good artist.

Looks like a Filipino forgery-type item...
