Kobe had a 3-peat and another 2-peat..... Isn't it kind of weird that as long as the Spurs have been good they have never repeated as champs?

And what players have tried to "get away" from Kobe? I can only think of 1. One of the biggest failures in NBA history in Dwight Howard. Quote:

Both great players but Kobe is usually ALWAYS mentioned up there with Jordan and James....
I'll take Kobe. |

Ah, that is true, too. I didn't even think about just appearances in the finals... So their first back to back was these last two... That's crazy to think about... I'll have to check, but have they even missed the playoffs in the Dunkovich era?

No, they haven't missed in 17 years. Pretty sure they have had 16 straight 50+ win seasons together. Up until last year, they were 4 from 4 in the finals. Now they are 5/6 |

Accolades are close I give the edge to Duncan, Kobe owns the edge in media/hype which actually does matter its basically popularity then Tim owns the peak/prime argument so its like saying Iverson vs stockton, the more popular guy vs the better player

Some great opinions on both sides. Whichever guy you choose, there's not much between them.
Some people seem to think that Popovich made Tim Duncan. TD's rookie year he had 21pts/11.9Reb/2.5 blk. Pop didn't teach him that. We also forget that Duncan could have been the no.1 pick in the draft the year before he went to the NBA. That would have added another year of 20 and 10 to his stats. People keep saying that Duncan is a product of a great system. This is hilarious, the guy would have won anywhere. Would Kobe have? Kobe even missed the playoffs once or twice. TD didn't. They (Spurs) were a chance EVERY year. Teams with Kobe have been swept a bunch of times in the Playoffs. I can't think of this EVER happening to a Duncan led team. Go back and watch Duncan is his prime, he was absolutely incredible. Guy had amazing skills, dribbling, passing, shooting, blocking, everything. Got close to a quadruple double a few times. Who has had the better career? Duncan. By a nose.
