You could be right. But don't state it like you know. There's absolutely zero indicators of the production run. Everything anyone says regarding production is a total assumption and guess. I'd actually argue that the sell out pace on this indicates a smaller print run...but who the hell knows?
Well he did say "seems" but ... the checklist is quite large for a crossover with a band ... and the ripped article mentions 10 different parallels. A hundred card base set with ten different parallels ... do the math, likely overprinted.

I'm genuinely curious how you would reach that conclusion?

It'll be interesting. It is all very strange for a product that was announced in April 2024 to have so little information about format or odds which would seem to lend itself to a big print run. At the same time, there are very few listings on eBay for sealed boxes relatively speaking, especially for a product that "sold out" of the presale.

The mystery will be solved in either a few weeks or whenever Topps gets around to updating the format or posting odds.

How does no odds make it seem there’s a big print run? This is just how your brain works or you have a knowledge of how Topps has acted like this in the past?

Seems just as easy to say it seems like it’s super short printed, because if they put out odds of it being as rare as it actually is all of the flipper bots would’ve got it and no collectors would’ve got a chance.

No one has any idea, and all you have to go on so far is the availability on the site and on eBay.

I like Green Day, but I don't love them.
I like Garbage Pail Kids, but don't love them.
I bought a box for each, so 2 boxes, and I'm good.
Good luck on yours, doods.

It's refreshing to see a non-sports set this large comprised of all new material along with requisite "hit" cards be sold in such a way that everyone had a chance (or two) to buy some at retail. Looking forward to seeing them in person and hopefully, more sets like this are on the way.

Same to you Dood!

It seems clear to me the Battle of the Bands sku has legs, wish they would do an all encompassing metal gpk release

A Hip-Hop/Rap themed set would do very well im sure

And their music just hits
Found some pictures on my phone from that night (2017, time flies):

You basically restated my post saying that it could go either way and nobody knows, as we have little evidence to go on in support of either theory.

I do not have a strong opinion either way. I am in for 2 cases and 10 loose boxes of which I will open at least 20 boxes. I would prefer for it to be a fairly limited release, but I am still thrilled if it is not.

Nice pics! I saw Green Day twice. Back during the Dookie tour in 1994 and then again for the Insomniac tour in maybe 1995 or so (these were two my first concerts ever as I was in 5th/6th grade!). What's wild is that I haven't seen them since. They recently toured with Rancid and I regret not going. I've seen Bad Religion, Face to Face, NOFX, and all those other bands from that era but Rancid has always alluded me. It's a bucket list one for sure! So much good punk came out of California back then!

Release date listed as Aug 27 in case that hasn't been noted yet.

My friend's mom was Armstrong's first music teacher (he gives her props in various interviews). She still runs Fiat Music in Pinole 6 days a week and has wicked piano chops at 90 something years old. If you're a Green Day fan and live in the bay area, you should make the pilgrimage if you haven't been to Pinole. Mrs. Fiatarone is a treasure.

10 parallels and no box guarantees.

If strangers on the internet trigger you this much, you should take a break from posting.

Thank you!! Awesome that you were able to watch them live twice!

Haha, a family friend (and my former 6th grade teacher) taught Tim Armstrong in middle school.

Yes it was! Such a great time, sad that the A’s are gone now.

Keep an eye out at GPK News for print run calculations, he always does them when the odds are released and people crack some boxes: https://gpknews.com/

Quote:
100 cards, 50 new gags with a/b variations. There looks to be 10 parallels to collect. Collectors can find; Booger Green (Unnumbered), Crumpled Garbage Foil (Unnumbered), Black (/199), Blue /99), Green Foil (/75), Gold Crumpled Foil (/50), Orange Foil (/25), Black Shimmer Foil (/10), Red Foil (/5), and FoilFractor (1/1).

There are also a ton of Insert sets to find in the product. Insert sets include; B-Sides, Sweet Children, Tribute to the East Bay, Doolie: 30 Years, and Album Art. All inserts have eight different parallels to collect; Black (/199), Blue /99), Green Foil (/75), Gold Crumpled Foil (/50), Orange Foil (/25), Black Shimmer Foil (/10), Red Foil (/5), and FoilFractor (1/1). There are also two rare insert sets, American Idiot SPs and Standing Room Only that only have three parallel types; Black Shimmer Foil (/10), Red Foil (/5), and FoilFractor (1/1).

Collectors can also find Triple Autos /25, American Idiot Triple Autos /5, Tour Relics, Auto Tour Relics, and Triple Auto Tour Relics. All autos and Relics also have a Foilfractor 1/1 version. There are no sketches in this release, and also no mention of printing plates.
Tons of parallels, every insert set has parallels too. This will probably be like Chrome 7 and 40th that require 1/2 a case to even build a base set.

I dunno. Usually on these one off GPK sets they are website exclusive. I got offered cases direct from Fanatics as a hobby shop for these. This leads me to believe the print run isn't necessarily tiny.

This is labeled as a 2024 product because that’s when Topps started the printers. And they’ve been going nonstop since. Prepare for a 1988 Topps-level production run!

Based on this I owe Topps thanks for saving me money. See how they do it.
