Using statistics from college to predict NBA success wouldn't be my hill to die on.

Honest question, has anyone other than his Dad come out and said he's an nba caliber player?

Nobody that ive read thinks he is a superstar.

Nearly everything I've read: they believe he is a very good defender and can shoot and projects to get even better. A 3 and D guy.

The height issue doesn't help. The wingspan does.

How many guys are there in the nba under 6'2?

Lots of players are if you take their shoes off… Bronny will be 6’2’ with shoes which is what teams go off of

Brunson isn’t 6’2’ if we want the quickest answer

Lu Dort measured 6'2" without shoes. He's probably the comp that Bronny would love to match.

“James’ standing reach puts him much more in the ballpark of point guard as opposed to that of a combo or shooting guard. Past players to post an 8-2 1/2 standing reach at the combine include Bruce Brown, Collin Sexton, Terry Rozier and Avery Bradley. James is a bit stronger and stouter than most of those players”

That was from the Athletic as a comparison

So that means 6' and change...

Yikes if this selection happens the NBA goes further down the pecking order of the big 4 leagues in my opinion. If this was baseball and there never ending draft then taking Lebron James Jr would be legitimate but that's about it.

He hasn't shown he is a shooter in any capacity. He shot under 27% from 3. College line is 3 feet shorter.

No, that means 6'1.5" barefoot. He will be listed at 6'2 in the NBA.

Bronny will never play in an NBA game unless it's 1 minute here and there in a blowout.... and even that scenario seems unlikely.

If his last name wasn't James he wouldn't even be playing major D1 ball. He would have been at some tiny school doing nothing or not playing D1 at all. He's just not good

If he's lucky he might play overseas somewhere based on name alone

Vast majority of NBA heights are in socks as Silver mandated it before 2019 season. How stringent they are in enforcing it is another question. But anyone who was playing before 2019-2020, odds are the height is accurate.

He was 19-25 in the 3pt star drill, 2nd best of combine attendees. I share this fully realizing the folks that hate his father will just dismiss it as an unguarded drill.

Kyle Lowry shot 22% from 3 his freshman year.

At the combine

No one cares about the combine height. They care about how tall you are in shoes... since you play Basketball in shoes

Everyone knows this

Reed Sheppard was seen as a nepotism scholarship by many Kentucky fans before this season. He at one point this year was in contention of being a Top 5 pick and measured less than 6'2".

Reed Sheppard is pretty good at playing basketball. Why are we comparing him to Bronny?

But it is a lot different when you're being guarded, which this game he's in is proof of. I think he's missed every jumper and been generally invisible. Lazy passes, not a lot of movement. I'm not hating on him, but the responsible thing is for him to get another year of school at least. Which is what Kyle Lowry did, actually.

If you stopped reading after Reed Sheppard in the post, maybe read again as I addressed this.

I am waiting to see some GM in the 2nd round draft Bronny before the Lakers just so he can't play with LeBron or force the Lakers to give them something for him.

Not sure what to tell ya man. I explained that someone would complain it was a drill and you swallowed the whole hook.

It's not a complaint when you have an actual real-time example of why it can be taken with a grain of salt.

You're acting as if college performance matters to these guys?
Zach Edey is the most dominant college basketball player of the last generation. He is likely not a lottery pick.
