Poole isn't a pg. He's not a great natural distributor by any stretch of the imagination. He's simply forced into the role due to team situation and Klay obviously staying put at the 2.
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/jor...-stephen-curry Where you're seeing Poole really struggle is beyond the arc. Curry's gravity leaves so many wide open perimeter looks for Poole and the rest of the team. He's really only getting those now when Klay's having a hot night.

It isn't 2002 anymore, stop using field goal percentage, it's incredibly misleading with a player who takes 10 3s a game, gets to the line a ton, and shoots 90%+ when he gets there. The only fair gripe is the turnovers, but as long as they're winning games it isn't the end of the world. Last edited by Ericc5Bears; 01-03-2023 at 10:56 PM. |

DiVicenzo has 5 turnovers in 179 minutes since Curry got hurt. Jerome is a steady PG as well. Poole needs to tighten up his handle and work on improving his shooting consistency. Probably 80% of his turnovers are when he gets himself into trouble dribbling. |

Poole is shooting much worse than last year (50.6% EFG vs 54.8%), and his free throw shooting is off as well (86% vs. 92.5%). Add in the turnovers and the picture starts to look even uglier. Guards who shoot 31% from deep with his level of turnovers don't last too long in the NBA. Ty Jerome is playing better than Poole is this year.....which isn't as ridiculous a statement as you think when you realize that Jerome was drafted four spots AHEAD of Poole in 2019... |

Yeah Poole's been turning the ball over entirely too much. But I think that also ties back to the fact that he tries to do way too much with the rock. It's okay to bring the street ball element if it isn't detrimental to team success. He needs to realize not every offensive possession needs to be fancy.

If he just learns to pass and move like Steph & Klay do, and only use his dribble when he's got a mismatch that he can blow by for a layup using his terrific first step, he'll be fine. But right now he's trying to initiate via the dribble, and that's just resulting in a lot of turnovers. |
