Is anyone really shocked this is 1000 on presale? I fully expect it to be around that.

IMO it becomes breakable at around 4-500. Don't know if it'll fall that far.

Some will definitely start it there and early breaks will get that.

The notion that 14 and 18 are both big boxes so 1200 isn’t a stretch is silly though. Even if some have stockholmed their way into thinking it makes sense.

I don’t know if it’ll happen but it wouldn’t shock me.

2022 WWE Prizm got pumped as high as $1100 or $1200 (or something crazy) and it’s still dropping to under $300 today because the secondary market just doesn’t support rare WWE singles after the initial release bump, unlike football and basketball Prizm wax that can increase based on 1 or 2 star rookies.

This release feels very much like the former.

Soccer is nothing like WWE.

2014 WC was a bad break at $125 but the boxes still went up to $10k+

Obviously people will get destroyed opening these at $1000 + but that happens with almost every box.

I think soccer still has a lot of people especially in Europe and Asia that will still throw money at this but more with breakers than actually opening a $1200 box and the breakers will be the ones that come out on top which is pretty much the entire hobby now anyway.

The WC will not be the big boom in the hobby people wanted, more like a bottle rocket going off and fizzling out a few weeks later.

For the casual collector who has $1000 to spend on a box of paper cards with photos of men playing soccer on them, this is a good buy. For breakers who like to lure people into group breaks and can recoup the cost, it's a good buy. For flippers who want to gamble, it's a high priced lottery ticket. I no longer fall into any of those categories, so I'll pass at the insane asking prices.

I liked buying soccer when nobody else was, it was affordable.

Anyone order from ozzie collectibles before? Pre-sale listed for $380... I'm tempted at that price especially if big shops have for $900+

Yeah good point. It did seem odd, but the listing also specifically says hobby. If it's not hobby, that should be enough for you to be able to cancel.

wwe prizm isn't breaker-friendly. world cup will be, but there are far fewer soccer breakers than fb/bkb. worth noting that 2021 football prizm is up but not moving at the high price and 21-22 bkb is down and going down further. I would definitely say it's closer to wwe and will follow the trajectory of immediate spike to rapid decline

it's the one saving grace about living in australia when it comes to this hobby, our hobby shops have great pre-order prices if you get in early enough. If you're late though, you get screwed because of taxes etc, but yeah the hobby stores are great for letting you get in at a reasonable price instead of listing, selling out and relisting higher like some stores cough cough. Here they just let you order what they have at a slight markup, end of.

Those are hobby boxes, i got 3 myself, and I would be surprised if the Jan 31 date isn't just a placeholder, it seems to be the default date for most collectibles over here.
